Aigaforum condemns any extra judicial killings: It also condemns the Vocal Diaspora attempt to fan animosity between our people.

(Aigaforum Jan 21, 2007)

On Jan 20, 2007 Ethiopian forum for political civility (pal talk room) had Ambassador Rashid Dulane as a guest, after debuting with a groundbreaking interview with Lidetu Ayalew, where people of different political persuasion listened and asked questions. The Ambassador was exceptionally eloquent, his explanation a living proof of the struggle and victory of nation and nationalities of Ethiopia to build a new Ethiopia they all call home.

And there were few others on the lobby (board for text) who are oblivious of the stride made in Ethiopia or the efforts of people to bring democratic civility and culture to Ethiopian politics, like a certain Ambalay, were incessantly posting cheap remarks and writing about a killing of a certain political activist in Addis alluding to ethnic bloodbath if not addressed.
It should be made known to every one Aigaforum condemns in no uncertain term any extra judicial killings. If the alleged killing is true the culprits should be brought to justice. If there is an eyewitness as alleged the authorities should not have hard time to bring the culprits to court. The word alleged should be underlined because we know better than trust blogers who came to being after CUD and the many tabloid newspapers came to a squeaking halt. The blogers are an extension of the tabloid papers that were notorious in exaggerating news and at times writing pure white lie hoping that will undermine the government of Meles Zenawi.

What is surprising is that Dagmawi too has taken the news at face value and cynically used it to ask supporters of the government to show their [anger]. Mind you even the source bloger never mentioned the ethnicity of the alleged deceased nor of the alleged culprits. For some the death of a person is relevant as long as it serves them a purpose: to see a deformed Ethiopia engulfed in “Ethnic blood bath”, which they have devilishly advocated in their civil disobedience manifesto. They undermine the court system and never gave a chance the justice system to function. Case in point the news of the killing of four young people in Gonder, where the extreme opposition fanned as “the return of Red Terror”. These extreme elements moved to another sensation with out addressing the fact that the police in the Gonder case was apprehended and sentenced for his action.

We call on those who wants to turn every news element to cast bad omen to come to their senses, join the fight to make the legal system relevant, our election more democratic and the democratic system get a foot hold. Ethiopia has enough cynicism, enough strife, enough terror.

Many times we have told you our readers Aigaforum is run by volunteers that have an independent mind. No one person is a card carrying party member of any political organization. Aigaforum is created to promote peace and democracy and help in the promotion of good image of Ethiopia. It is true as an independent person when issues arise that is dear and close to any of our volunteer’s heart we have been sharing our thoughts with you all. The Border issue as well as Kinijit and its politics since May 2005 have been issues that Aigaforum has taken a stand. In the case of the border issues we were and are collectively against any more concession to Shaibya. It is not because of losing a land but because we think Shaibya is not looking for land but to humiliate us by demolishing our Hidmos(huts) and Churches. In the case of Kinijt we are firmly against “ene kemote serdo aybqel” approach to the democratization process. Regardless how extensive election irregularities may have occurred, we are of the opinion that Rome was not built over night nor will Ethiopian democratization be accomplished in one election. Kinijit has done more harm to the democratization process and we blame the vocal Diaspora for leading kinijit astray. To this day we think Ethiopians were ill served by the vocal Diaspora and by the leadership of Engineer Hailu.
