More Babysitting the so called "Loyal" Opposition
2005
has shown us how an opposition, drank by unexpected election
gain, can go high wire and deface the process and destroy
itself. It has also shown us how a serious opposition can
make sea change to the process if it is determined to use
the democratic space. One could not help but ponder on Kojo
Namdi’s (of NPR) question of what could have happened
if the opposition has taken up its seat. Crooks and short
sellers don’t want us to think of that scenario, in
humanly possible way, for they came, they gambled, they
cut their loss and moved on leaving the citizen to clean
the mess they created. They may have shaken our hope of
having mature multi-party system in Ethiopia but not to
the extent we are going to settle for the retarded opposition
of Beyene’s UEDF. The democratic space deserves better,
EPRDF deserves better and the people deserve better.....

“Cold
Election” - Reporter
Comment: EPRDF
has to play by the rules but it does not have the obligation to give
a hand to the opposition. EPRDF says it is playing by the rules and
the opposition cries foul. Beside covering the he said she said allegation
and denial below is Reporters track record regarding the election.
Number of reports on verifying allegation
of repression - 0
Number of reports on verifying allegation of killings - 0
Number of reports on verifying allegation of intimidation - 0
Number of reports on verifying allegation of beating - 0
What hinders Reporter from covering the
process proactively? The reporter has not even done followup of EUDP-Medhins
documented alleagations. If the press has taken its responsibility
covering the reality and contributing constructive input then the
irresponsible opposition would not have been able to pull tired tactic
every election cycle to keep the process stunted.

What is Ethiopia's plan to withdraw from Somalia?
Meles Zenawi: There are two issues here. First is the threat that was
posed by the Shabaab [the radical wing of the Union of Islamic Courts]
to Ethiopia, when they threatened to take control of the whole of Somalia
and at the same time declared jihad against Ethiopia...
A Loveless Liaison or Endemic
Dishonesty?
(Desta Berhe April 06, 2008):- The Economist published this article
the on April the 3rd, 2008 describing the Ethio-US relations as loveless
liaison. I am responding to the article’s allegations and claims. All
of the points are repetitions of previous relentless distortions by
many Western media outlets bashing the Ethiopian peoples...
