(source waltainfo) The primer briefed
parliament on the genesis of the Jimma incident, the
clear and present danger poised by Jihadist and on the
rising cost of living.
(Aigaforum, Dec 11, 2006):-TDA's revival in North America continues with full speed through out the States. As we all know by now TDA members and supporters have pledged to build 14 elementary schools all over Tigray. While Boston, Las Vegas, North Carolina and Seattle branches have already managed to raise the funds needed to build the schools many others are following in their foot steps. Bay Area held its fund raising night on Dec 9 2006 in San Jose California.
It is unfortunate that ONC chose to beat the drum of not joining
the parliament with the Dergist CUD, who claimed to have won in
every corner of Ethiopia and went to undo the Federal system by
street violence, in post election(only to join later), causing loss
of life and lost time in democratization while all along their constituency
did not support such stand and they have opposite agenda according
to his interview.
The opposition should not build democracy on one hand destroy
it on the other by mixing the legal with the illigal act in hope
of finding short cut to remove EPRDF.The Opposition by now should
understand that EPRDF is central to democratization and should engage
it in good faith.
One can not lobby for finanicial support for the opposition from
governmnt when they will turn and use it to destroy the system.[Alula

Vocal Diaspora Exposed as Anti Ethiopia!
(Dec 06, 2006):-I have been watching a petition drive by the vocal
Diaspora and their nanny Shaibia against the deployment of foreign
troops in Somalia. This coming form supposedly "nationalist" Diaspora
Ethiopians in tandem with Shaibia is bemusing.
These force for the past 15 years have been undermining the prime
minister Meles govt for allowing Eritrea to be independent there by
leaving Ethiopia landlocked. To day not only are they happy with independent
Eritrea and landlocked Ethiopia but also willing to allow the extremist
in Somalia incorporate Ogaden and all the way to Nazert!. I know these
forces knew that not in a million years will the extremist in Somalia
succeed. What they are doing is showing their allegiance to Shaibia
their current master.
If you recall Shaibia of late has been trying to warn IGAD countries
not to send peacekeeping forces and has been telling the USA and the
UN not to interfere in Somalia! The petition is exactly a replica
of Shaibia's diatribe that has been going on for a while now in Eri
TV and Shabait webpage.
The UNSC has authorized the peacekeeping forces and
728 poor souls who signed this petition are left hanging dry.
Shame on the vocal Diaspora for siding with the enemy of the mother
country...[Zeru Hagos]
A
Patriotic Call for all Ethiopians
Here is a message that all Ethiopians should send to Senator
Joe Bidden, soon to be Foreign Relations Committee Chairman
Somali regime cites fear of regional war
"The Islamic Courts, instead of ceasing their expansion and committing to peace and dialogue, have increased their military expansionist activities and their belligerence to new heights," "Thousands of Eritrean and other foreigners, who are answering the courts' call for 'jihad', are pouring in,"
Radical Islamists are preparing to take control of the impoverished country and start a regional war in East Africa
TO MOST Americans, Somalia is the place where "Black Hawk Down" happened, or the place with the pictures of the starving African children...Somalia's neighbors are bracing for a regional war,... Ethiopia, which has a restive Muslim south and a history of being a target for Somali brigandage whenever the Somalis pause in their intra-clan feuding, is sending troops to back up the interim government and oppose the Islamists...
The Eritreans, led by an increasingly paranoid, sociopathic president, are the sworn blood enemies of the Ethiopians. Seeing a chance to weaken their bigger neighbor, they are flying in arms and instructors to the Islamists.
Why
I support Limited Ethiopian Intervention in Somalia
(Ethiopian News and Views):- There is an unfolding political
crisis in southern Somalia. Over the past two years, a collection of local
clan-based courts in Mogadishu have evolved to become the most powerful
military force[UIC]...However, radical Islamists tied to al-Qaeda and
al-Ittihad al-Islami have assumed central roles within the UIC
MOGADISHU, Dec 8, 2006 (AFP) - Fierce fighting erupted
Friday between forces loyal to Somalia's weak Ethiopian-backed government
and powerful Islamists south of the government's seat of Baidoa, Islamist
officials said...
Security Council approves African protection force in Somalia
6 December 2006 – The Security Council today authorized the establishment
of an African protection and training mission in Somalia to help defend
the troubled country’s Transitional Federal Institutions (TFIs). The new
force, which will be set up by the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental
Authority on Development (IGAD), an east African group, has an initial
mandate of six months, according to a resolution adopted unanimously by
the Council.
The result of the looming Somali civil war; also accompanied by its various
proxy wars, has vast significance on the development of Ethiopia and Somalia...
As many Somali-Ethiopians said this week, it is a mistake to even assume
that the Union of Islamic Courts will ever bring stability in Somalia
or the horn of Africa Economic
impact of the pending Somalia civil war
As Ethiopia seeks
to establish the first ever commodity exchange, as a country, it has embarked
on a great collective learning exercise in what may be a fundamental transformation.
Ethiopia has a long tradition of commerce and a unique culture that must
be recognized as it develops an “Ethiopian exchange for Ethiopia”, says
Eleni Zaude Gabre-Medhin (PhD), chief the Ethiopian Commodities Exchange
(ECEX) project...The

Open Letter to Dr Beyene Petros and Ato Bulcha Demeksa
(Aigaforum,Dec 05, 2006):-Aigaforum would like to continue
to believe kubur Dr Beyene Petros and kebur Bulecha Demeksa to be an asset
to the country and their organization as a foundation to democratic Ethiopia.
We think the Professor and his political organization has been a key player
in the ongoing struggle to democratize the country. We applaud him and
his organization for staying true to the cause come rain or shine.
Having said this we can not fathom why the professor found the mentioning
of Shaibya and its collaborators as an enemy of the State, lurking behind
the Somalia Islamic Courts to cause the destruction of Ethiopia unacceptable!
We ask the professor and Ato Bulcha to come clean and explain their unexplainable
decision, if they like, but reconsider their decision and tell Ethiopians
all over the world they were wrong to vote against the resolution.
Comment: Mr. Temesgen of
CUD got it wrong, when he complained they are being condemned for holding
different view(read
reporter). The fact that Ethiopia, as a democratic country, respects
groups right to have different view is uphold by the fact that they have
a respected seat in parliament recognized as an opposition group. What
they are being condemned is not their right to have a different view but
their view itself. Though a young democracy in the case of Ethiopia, Parliamentarians
are government in themselves. What is being condemned is having agreed
on the supremacy of the rule of law and to respect the constitution, the
opposition still have trouble respecting their agreement let alone dispensing
their parliamentarian responsibility.
May be it gets confusing when the opposition is in hot seat for a change!
Their intent to mix the lawful and their sympathy with
to the illegal groups came to a head on collusion during the parliament
resolution last week. The opposition would not have missed the declaration
of the ONLF, OLF and others who declared once again to attack and useat
the legal government of Ethiopia. They would not miss UN’s
report on the support of Eritrea to the Jihadists. It is not EPRDF
who is giving label to the illegal opposition, but their own actions and
press releases. Their sitting on the fence is indefensible when illegal
groups made it clear that their alliance is with the Jihadists in Somalia.

The Untold Story: UEDP Stands Above the Crowd
(Ethiopiafirst.com) ...I was bewildered and saddened when I first heard
that only one among the major opposition groups supported the government's
proposed measures. The position of some opposition parties defied all
logic...
