Open Letter to Dr Beyene Petros and Ato Bulcha Demeksa

(Aigaforum,Dec 05, 2006):-Aigaforum would like to continue to believe kubur Dr Beyene Petros and kebur Bulecha Demeksa to be an asset to the country and their organization as a foundation to democratic Ethiopia.

We think the Professor and his political organization has been a key player in the ongoing struggle to democratize the country. We applaud him and his organization for staying true to the cause come rain or shine.

Having said this we can not fathom why the professor found the mentioning of Shaibya and its collaborators as an enemy of the State, lurking behind the Somalia Islamic Courts to cause the destruction of Ethiopia unacceptable!

We ask the professor and Ato Bulcha to come clean and explain their unexplainable decision, if they like, but reconsider their decision and tell Ethiopians all over the world they were wrong to vote against the resolution.
<

Comment: Mr. Temesgen of CUD got it wrong, when he complained they are being condemned for holding different view(read reporter). The fact that Ethiopia, as a democratic country, respects groups right to have different view is uphold by the fact that they have a respected seat in parliament recognized as an opposition group. What they are being condemned is not their right to have a different view but their view itself. Though a young democracy in the case of Ethiopia, Parliamentarians are government in themselves. What is being condemned is having agreed on the supremacy of the rule of law and to respect the constitution, the opposition still have trouble respecting their agreement let alone dispensing their parliamentarian responsibility.
May be it gets confusing when the opposition is in hot seat for a change!

Their intent to mix the lawful and their sympathy with to the illegal groups came to a head on collusion during the parliament resolution last week. The opposition would not have missed the declaration of the ONLF, OLF and others who declared once again to attack and useat the legal government of Ethiopia. They would not miss UN’s report on the support of Eritrea to the Jihadists. It is not EPRDF who is giving label to the illegal opposition, but their own actions and press releases. Their sitting on the fence is indefensible when illegal groups made it clear that their alliance is with the Jihadists in Somalia. [Alula Nega]

Why would Isayas Afeworki go to Italy on a private trip and get a harsh lesson form the Italian Prime minister? This is unlike Isayas of the past, something must be wrong. We can only guess things are not going well for him. The Economy in shamble, citizens leaving the country daily what else could go wrong. The extreme elements in Somalia may be succeeding to get what they want. Ethiopian parliament has recommended the Ethiopian government to use any legal means necessary to thwart the danger these extremist harbor against Ethiopia. In the heated parliamentarians discussion the honorable Ledetu Ayalew supporting the government position made a speech reminding political organizations not to make the same mistake similar to TPLF and EPRP during the last war Ethiopia had with Ziad Barre Somalia. Many people assume the young TPLF of the late seventies while establishing its base in Northern Ethiopia, Tigray had taken a position against Ethiopia when Ziad Barre invaded Ethiopia. The truth however is not what many opponents of the EPRDF today would like us to believe.

In a symposium held in Mekelle some two years ago, Aboy Sebhat one of the founders of TPLF and by many considered to be the father of the organization has said, TPLF warned the Ziad Barre regime that invading Ethiopia is a mistake and must be stopped. Other source also told us that while TPLF acknowledged the invasion was wrong it was severely handicapped to do anything except to work on its own survival. As a young organization it was immersed in many organizational problems. However this did not stop it from condemning EPRP for the stand the organization took vis-à-vis the war.

We are trying to get any publication that confirms our sources and we will post it as soon as we get it.

"The Oromo people will gain nothing from the war between Ethiopia and Somalia and therefore must refrain from collaborating with the Ethiopian regime in the war effort. Source who attended last week's meeting called by the Shaleqa group in San Jose Califonria informed us the meeting did not go well. The source told us police was called to bring order due to a unruly behaviour by Berhanu Mewa supporters. Our source said neither group should be allowed to speak on behalf of Kinijit nor be allowed to represent Kinijit.
