Addis Ababa, February 7, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - The government of Ethiopia launched here on Thursday its first-ever National Nutrition Strategy (NNS), which will ensure that all Ethiopians secure an adequate nutritional status.

Source: Reuters ADDIS ABABA, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Ethiopia said on Friday it would send five helicopters to help equip a peacekeeping force deploying in Sudan's Darfur region.

NEBE expects 29 million registered voters
Addis Ababa, February 5, 2008 (WIC) - The number of registered voters is expected to reach 29 million, the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said.
Comment: More than election 2005 this coming election will cement the democratic process in a strong footing in Ethiopia. This election will enable Ethiopians all over to exercise real politics and elect their representative all the way to the Kebele level. Any opposition party that is missing this election is missing the big picture of democratic process and institution building. Ethiopia's democratic process will be built from the bottom up and not from top down.

EPRDF says 99 per cent of its candidates in Addis pass public evaluations

Comment: Reporter has brought opposition complaints. We expect this to be followed by the ruling party response. What is missing is as to why Reporter does not go to the stated areas and verify the fact?

Dr.Merera,complainer in chief, says what he usually says but Dr. Beyene pointed out the 300 required candidate is so that the opposition would run out of candidates! What does that mean? Does it mean that the opposition could not find 300 candidates out of the said "26 million" that have voted for them during election 2005!

In general democracy is about process. EPRDF is doing its caucus and primary- EPRDF style how about the oppositions? How are they selecting their candidates?...For EPRDF the question to answer is why is this one different from the last evaluation that brought candidates that were defeated after they were said to have passed the evaluation? Specially in Addis Ababa!

Why is the Media not doing analysis, why doesn't it do fact finding?
