Situation Report on United Nation Military Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea.
(Aigaforum 02.23.08):- The United Nation Military Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE) has been in paralysis due to the Eritrea regime refusal to cooperate. The Eritrea regime through out the years since the mission was established has tired to undermine the mission presence. The regime has effectively curtailed UNMEE’s mission for some time now. The current report we are getting reads as follows:

Ethiopia Inks Deal With World’s
Largest Coffee Trade Association Building upon its growing relationship
with coffee giant Starbucks, Ethiopia signed an agreement last week
to be a major sponsor of the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s
20th Annual Conference and Exhibition, the largest gathering of the
specialty coffee world.

and operation of the force, but has also put the security of the peacekeepers,
in the words of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, in grave danger
Aigaforum 02/20/08:- According to a reliable source some 28 European
mostly French tourist were attacked by Shaibya (Eritrean regime) mercenaries
in the Afar region of Ethiopia. The incident happened around Mohammed
Ela in the Dalul area around 11am (Ethiopian time) today.

UN Ethiopia-Eritrea peacekeepers move to Asmara
UNITED NATIONS, Feb 19 (Reuters) - U.N. peacekeepers monitoring a
border security zone between Eritrea and Ethiopia are regrouping in
the Eritrean capital of Asmara after Eritrea cut off their fuel and
food, U.N. officials said on Tuesday.
Comment:- There is unspoken fear among UN officials
that the mad man may hold UNMEE as hostage. The UN according to some
observers is quietly trying to lift troops out of Eritrea before the
unthinkable happens.
US drops Africa military HQ plan
The US military has decided to keep the headquarters of its new Africa
Command in Germany, after only one African nation, Liberia, offered
to host it.
