Comment on Birtukan Mideksa "Love" of the Constitution
The current news update by Ethiopifirst.com on Birtukan Mideksa disassociating her self and group from AFD is good news. But, is a simple declaration of statement good enough? Who is AFD if it is not the group from Diaspora including Elias Kifle of Ethiopian review and the other who is who from the extreme Diaspora she has been talking every weekend to discuss if armed struggle is an option or not in current Ethiopia?
If the EPRDF government has an iota of respect to the constitution they should enforce the law of the land! The prime minister told the nation in no uncertain term that Birtukan or any one else can not have it both ways (hultum ataqeso mehed aychalem) It is about time he instructs his government officials to respect the constitution.
I can not in all honesty see what good of an idea will come from Birtukan conferencing every weekend with the extremist in Diaspora except to embolden those forces who are inching to issue another fatwa to the unemployed in Addis Ababa. Let it be known if our people are killed again in broad day light by any one the government will be accountable. These cud leaders have broken their promise when they were released from jail; their supporters are conspiring every day in western capitals to undermine the constitution. HR2003 is one case and their onslaught on the Ethiopian government for doing its constitutional duty in Ogaden area is another case. Most Birtukan supporters support the ONLF!
If Birtukan is to start another legal opposition she should denounce her association with the likes of Berhanu Nega and Andargachew Tisge as well other the extremists who have been in bed with AFD and have been financing her campaign.
