Come again? Collective Leadership?

Dr.Brihanu, to the bewilderment of most, has been tagging along Hailu Shawil to disaster at the cost of his party and CUD in general and the effort of democratization (not to mention personal). Keste Demena people must have decided it is time to draw the line to challenge to challenge Hailu Shawil's All Ethiopia Party in the name of collective. Andargechews openly defiant stand brings the ungluing of CUD member organizations, which has been window dressed in bravado of claim of unity and “sprit” for the consumption of believers, out in the public. Ledetu must be secretly laughing out loud in his parliament seat where he is making tangible difference to his constituency, is party and democratization in Ethiopia.

Ato Andargachew Tsige rejects Hailu Shawels Authority?

Joke of the Day: Look who goes to Accra!

It is said that the Leader of the "Afengachoch" is on tour, more of "My life as D-List politician” backpacking, to lend advice to AU, as if they have not called it “fraternity of Dictators” for observing the last election and passing favorable judgment. It looks good lesson as been learned from Shabia through AFD. He has no country to lead it want to lead Africa....they can't put their party in order.. they want to advice African leaders.

Gross distortion by Washington Post On PM Meles Report!
Here is another distortion like the one perpetrated on Seyoum Mesfin's letter to the United Nations. The Post is now claiming Prime Minister Meles Zenawi told parliament "it was a "made a wrong political calculation" when it intervened in Somalia". Nowhere did the Prime Minister make such a statement whether it was in his speech or during the Q&A session. In short, here is what PM Meles said:
Our mission was to break the Islamic forces and help the Somalis restore peace in their country. We then opened discussions with the clan leaders who were providing critical support to the defeated Islamic militia. After weeks of negotiation, including in Addis Abeba, they assured us they would only address their grievances through peaceful means. We assumed they would keep their word and then started implementing our troop redeployment plan. That was our mistake. After we withdraw two-thirds of our force, the clans started making several miscalculations. They felt the remaining Ethiopian force no longer had the troop strength to be a formidable challenge. Then they not only started attacking us and TFG but also the Ugandan contingent of the AU peace keeping force. However, in due course, we were able to correct our mistakes.
What Washington Post reported is a gross distortion and is sufficient ground for the government to revoke the accredition for the journalist.

9th Ordinary AU summit opens

Leaders of various African countries, including Prime Minister Meles Zenawi as well as African First ladies including Ethiopian First Lady Azeb Mesfin have been converged at the Summit.

Court found Siye guilty on one count
(Aigaforum June 29, 2007)-After facing a long and exhausting process Siye Abraha and his brothers have finally met the missing judges and were sentenced today.

Prime Minister Meles left for Ghana to attend AU summit.
(Aigaforum June 29, 2007)-The premier will join his foreign minister, Seyuom Mesfin, who is already attending the meeting of foreign ministers in Ghana. As your recall the lying Ethiopian Diaspora media have been churning all kind of false news about Meles. The premier since his return from the G8 summit has not left the country until today.

Full Report by PM Meles to the House of Rrepresentatives
Honorable Speaker of the House, Honorable Members of the House, of Peoples' Representatives
One can assume that it is possible to conclude from presentations of varied performance reports to the House that the government has been engaged this year in implementing action plans...

 part i    part ii

[During the question and answer session the premier acknowledge there may be efforts by individuals in regard to the jailed leaders but in no uncertain term made it clear to parliamentarians that the case of the jailed leaders is in the hands of the court and no amount of foreign or otherwise pressure will force his government to interfere before the court process is finished.]

Update On Court Proceedings: Penalty Recommendation
(Aigaforum June 27, 2007)_As you recall on June 4, 1999 the court passed its guilt verdict on the jailed Kinijit leaders and others charged with the same cases. The court then instructed defendants and the prosecutor to file their recommendation on the penalty before June 20, 1999.

Latest report coming after our Update #3 is all jailed leaders have accepted and signed on the guilt letter and the Ethiopian government will get the signed letter any time soon. It is reported the government though is expected to face stiff resistance not to pardon the jailed leaders from within, will accept the convicted leaders letter of forgiveness.

To all our Readers!
(Aigaforum June 24, 2007)-Many of you have asked us to remain positive about the potential release of jailed leaders. Some of you have asked us not to call the leaders convicted leaders and some of you are wondering if the government is interfering in the judicial process...

FULL COMMITTEE MEETING NOTICE
Committee on Foreign Affairs U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515-0128
Tom Lantos (D-CA), REVISED

As you can tell from the revised agenda, the HR 2003 Bill is removed from the agenda of the Foreign affairs committee. The committee seems to understand the futility of micro managing Ethiopian domestic issues. It is yet another defeat to the extremist diaspora politicians and their sponsors in congress.
