What are people saying...
Dear Editor,
I am in Ethiopia . Since I got here I have tried to get an
honest opinion of Ethiopians from all walks of life. There
are an incredible changes in many part of the country. Many
people appreciate the developments they see rural areas, i.e.
school, clinics, road construction and forestation. However,
no matter what EPRDF do to change life in Ethiopia , shabia
undermines its successes. Most people do not understand why
EPRDF tolerate shabia so much. My own peasant family who live
around Semien Mountain argues those who died in Badame were
naďve. The last couple of days, Ethiopian TV showed us the
plot of terrorists directed by shabia. Probably, Ethiopian
government thought it will gain support from the public but
the people I talked to blame EPRDF for letting Ethiopia bleed
for many years by shabia. Most people, especially the young
generation told me they will vote against EPRDF just because
shabia. EPRDF keeps on listening itself and sing its own song
as it used to. They do not understand how Ethiopian nationalism
is so powerful. It transcends ethnic, religion and party loyalty.
Just wait and see another election. Then, it may realize the
value of Ethiopian nationalism but it may be too late.

Commentt: May be the third
time will be the charm for Shaibya! This is very weak statement
and it says nothing! Perhaps it is saying Ethiopia will wait
until it gets a real slap from Shaibya.
With a convincing evidence at hand on Shaibya involvement
for the death of many innocents citizens in Addis and else
where all MOI can say is something like what president Bush
said after the initial victory in Iraq. "Bring it on!". Look
where Iraq is today and it should not be that hard to guess
what Shaibya will do tomorrow with a better planning and a
deadly tool. The government seems wiling to give Shaibya a
third chance at least that is what we think the release is
saying!

continued effort to cause mayhem and destruction in Ethiopia
Increasing discontent on Governments
Containment policy vis-à-vis Shabia.
Time and again the Prime Minster is heard that if shabia wants to
be one more opposition in Ethiopia’s alphabet soup of opposition
it is welcome. Or that the current strategy of waiting for Shabia
to take the next conspiracy and taking defensive action is good enough.
However, people are voicing their dissatisfaction and some warn EPRDF
may loose the next election because of its lackluster attitude towards
Shabia.
Ethiopians Forum for Political Civility is expected to release its
stand on the current issue which was debated yesterday extensively.
Despite differences on the past relation of the EPRDF and Shabia there
is no difference on the negative impact of Shabia in Ethiopia and
the need for the government to push for more aggressive and proactive
action unless the Shabia stops its agenda of destroying Ethiopia and
people’s support in its endeavor.
The expected stand of Ethiopians Forum is exemplary as a wake up call
for the government, and is expected to be followed by different sections
of the society.

The government of Ethiopia announced that there was no any US special
force or there was no any US land and air strike against terrorists from
Ethiopia.
U.S. Used Base in Ethiopia to Hunt Al Qaeda in Africa
Good God! What is the New York Times trying to say in
this news? Yes the US has unmatched intelligence capability from the sky
and unmatched military hardware but the fight against terrorists is not
all about technology. If it was then Iraq would be at peace and the US
would not be in the quagmire it is today.
The reason the Somalia bound terrorist were routed and defeated is not
because their fox holes were know by satellite or the C130 was used. If
that was the case the US was owner of hundreds of C130 and Military satellites
that can differentiate a pin in a haystack way before Ethiopian defense
forces ventured in to Somalia. The terrorist were defeated and uprooted
because Ethiopia's determination to win the war as well as its military
capability on the ground, not to mention majority of Somalis were also
on its side. What kind of satellite can the US have used to tell the skirt
wearing terrorist that includes the ranks of Shaibya and its amalgamated
soup of hired mercenaries as well as the Arab militants apart from the
peaceful Somalis? Nada!
The US can take credit if it can use its immense economic power to bring
lasting peace by helping the Somali government now. Let us give credit
where it is due.

Comment:- We read the report
in Amharic about Shaibya’s clear leading role in the executed and attempted
terrorist plots inside Ethiopia. We can only wonder why the Ethiopian
government thinks it is okay for Shaibya to commit terrorist act as well
as help terrorists to undermine our peace. So far Shaibya is getting away
unharmed. Why Shaibya is allowed even to dream hurting us let alone help
in the killing of innocent citizens is mind-boggling?
One time tegadalay Michael, who was also one of the nine TPLF founders,
said in his Interview
with Dimtsi Woyane, "...He does not understand the patience with Shaibya
any more!" We could not agree more with him! War is not what we are asking
at the moment. Let us start with an official condemnation.
