Mr. Clarke stated that the PM had a vision on the kind of democratic culture he wanted to have in Ethiopia and that he also wanted to uphold the constitution since, according to the him, ‘it was the main tool for building democracy’.

In related news, the European Union, one of the donors that decided to halt Direct Budgetary Support a few months ago, is to embark on a multi-million Euro Transport Sector Project, according to Tim Clarke.

Ethiopia-Eritrea Crisis: The Fresh US Diplomacy, Scenarios and Policy Considerations
(By AHH, May 16,2005):- At the start, it was not all clear whether or not the US had been mandated by the United Nations Security Council to spearhead the diplomatic effort. However, the issue was made clear later when the Security Council “put off deciding the fate” of UNMEE to give... Ethiopia says it won't start war with Eritrea

Response by the Government of Ethiopia to the invitation to participate in a forum organized under the title "Ethiopia - One year after the Election" to be held in Strasburg on 15 May 2006
To sum up, the Government of Ethiopia has no confusion that the said forum is a lopsided, unbalanced and dramatically orchestrated... Unfortunately, one could understand that friends and partners of Ethiopia might take part in this gathering falling under the mistaken impression
