Interview with Ato Ayele Chamiso, Chairman of CUDP
Interview with EPRDF candidates

Thought For Today
The optimist lives under a clear sky; the pessimist lives in a fog. The pessimist hesitates, and loses both time and opportunity; the optimist makes the best use of everything now, and builds themselves up, steadily and surely, until all adversity is overcome and the object in view realized. The pessimist curbs their engergies and concentrates their whole attention upon failure; the optimist gives all their thought and power to the attainment of success, and arouses their faculties and forces to the highest point of efficiency. The pessimist waits for better times, and expects to keep on waiting; the optimist goes to work with the best that is at hand now and proceeds to create better time. by Christian Larson

Ethiopia and the free market
Published: April 29 2008 03:00 | Last updated: April 29 2008 03:00
From Dr Eleni Z. Gabre-Madhin.
Sir, I refer to your article “Ethiopian exchange bans futures” (April 21), in which you state that futures trading is banned in Ethiopia and that this is rooted in state suspicion of free markets...

Will
Meles Run Another Term? His Advisor Asks, “Why Not?”
Addis Fortune Interview with Minister Bereket Simon
In an exclusive interview with Fortune last week, this latter
assertion was strongly reiterated by his Special Advisor on
Public Relations, Bereket Simon: "He's a loyal solider and
an exemplary leader of the party," Bereket stressed. "He'll
be deployed to any work the party would like him to do." ... |
|
| Let us give
a moment to Bereket to gloat for 2008's win, for in all honesty
he tried to bring "Inken Yelesh" election 2005 but
got played by those crooks who got into election as short cut
to power...Now let see how the PM will spin his staying in power
to western media. “I would have liked to leave my post.
But my party needs me. I am a solder for my party. BTW I lead
a party in a multi-party system.” What a sordid game.
Do they get it that it is not about the Party. When and how
he leaves is as much important as him staying in power for a
country that has not seen peaceful transfer of power in its
long history. Ok. If you don’t get that, just make sure
you don’t keep him ‘till he is 84 and by then you
will be doom if you keep him and doomed if you don’t.
For all the optimism there is a lingering thought…these
Revolutionary Democrats just don’t get the fact they can
gold plate Addis but unless they adopt all the tool of a party
that rans in democratic election they will loose elections or
slide through and we will be faced with an opposition which
thinks it has the right to bestow “Ethiopiawinet”
let alone be a give the chance to be a part in the Minority
seat. For the electorate the revolutionary democrats are no
more “tegadalay” they are politicians. So think
like one. Act like one ..these "we
are solders to the party" may fly in your circle but not
in Addis your party worked 24/7 to change.[Alula Nega 04/29/08] |
