We heard a story about one of our brave soldier heroic deeds
during the Italian invasion at Adwa way back. It was a story
of a person name Awalom who tricked the Italians to enter
an ambush zone where the brave Ethiopians were waiting. After
getting whipped the Italians started to shout Awalom! Awalom!
The answer in Tigringa from Awalom was ...Nisika Etwelos Aynwalo!"

Who is giving flase hope to Djibouti

Commission to demarcate Ethiopia-Eritrea border
NAIROBI, Nov 14 (Reuters) - An independent commission will demarcate the
Ethiopian-Eritrean border on maps and leave the rival nations to establish
the physical boundary themselves... Comment:-This commission similar
to its colonialist predecessors is leaving a match and a stick in our
region. Although this latest move, where the commission is leaving up
to the two countries to put the final pillars on the ground, is an indication
the commission has accepted the five point plan presented by Prime Minister
Meles, it nonetheless is a trap the two countries should not buy in. Ethiopia
should not approve the map this commission is trying to mark blindly.
It should cross check the map against the status quo. Eritrea should realize
the commission is abrogating its responsibility too! Final peace is to
the interest of both people and this commission is not doing its job.To
our knowledge there is nothing as such as demarcation on paper. We had
enough of Mussolini’s Map of the 1930's.
.......And
then there are late comers who have joined the course of “civil
disobedience” as if this blue print has not been disseminated
and tried on the street of Addis and other cities after the election
only to fizzle in the face of reality, albeit, causing untold
loss of life and property. Civil Disobedience is impractical for
there is no cultural context in the society, the ruling party
or the opposition to bring the desired effect....

ADDIS ABABA, Nov 7 (Reuters) - A team that investigated two bouts of post-election
violence in Ethiopia in 2005 criticised a judge on Tuesday for leaking a
report that accused security agents of conducting a "massacre"... "We had
48 kinds of documents we agreed upon. What the judge issued to the public
is taking out one of the documents and presenting it to the public. This
is dishonest," Gemechu said.
Ethiopia’s president holds the opposition at bay

Ethiopia...."Whatever else you might say about the government, they are
passionately committed to poverty reduction. On the development agenda,
we rate them very highly," one Western diplomat said. "And they don’t rob.
Ethiopia is not as corrupt as Kenya, as repressive as Eritrea or as unstable
as Somalia."

Comment:- The little big story in this
picture is President Isayas of Eritrea is standing behind Meles
and in good sprit! Of course the big story is China becoming a full
partner with Africa, unlike the West and big companies like Starbucks
who could not see a prosperous Africa as a plus to world peace.
Unlike some of the Awate writers who always find comfort
for all the abuse they are getting from Isayas Afeworki in Ethiopia's
shortcomings, this particular writer from Asmara tells the world how
the Shaibya government is abusing its people. Slowly but surely Eritrea
under Shaibya is going down, and it is a tragedy after thirty years
of war it has come to this.
