Update on Vocal Diaspora
For those of you wanting to know what is going
on in Diaspora land here is the scoop. Shaleqa has fired Berhanu
and Berhanu in return has fired Shaleqa. You wonder how this
could happen… well go figure! The worst of all many supporters
do not seem worried about the devastating effect of the split.
What they are worried about is a missing $250, 000.00 dollars!
We know the vocal Diaspora is an old dog that could not be
taught a new trick but here is a lesson any ways: When TPLF
leaders decided to split in two camps they did not run to
the bank but to their members (Cadres). They put everything
up in front and allowed the cadres to decide who runs the
organization. Members make and brake organization. It does
not matter who controls the money! After all, unless the Diaspora
is planning to buy the unemployed youth to do the hard work,
yet again, money should be the least they should worry about.
But we know the vocal Diaspora does not have a story to tell
and an organized ear to listen. A house of cards that is what
they are!

Comment:
Though I really appreciate
Dagmawi for being a true Ethiopian, I am amiss why he
thinks the CUD is a legal entity protected by the constitution
of Ethiopia.
Dagmawi should know the CUD he knows is in bed with Shaibya
a sworn enemy of the nation. The CUD he knows is in bed with
OLF a violent organization that does not believe in civil
disobedience-It is waging an armed insurgency. I know Dagmawi
is for civil disobedience and opposes cud involvement with
OLF and Shaibya but the CUD that is calling for civil disobedience
is not. Dagmawi stay true to the cause.
No one benefit's when mayhem wins over our country and when
innocent people are put in jail. What will work is for all
of us to work within the system to build the system. To be
honest with you no one from the other side yet believes CUD
is a good spirit.

the Commission report if it is finished |
| Although the official report
from the inquiry commission is not released yet AP
is reporting on the commission's findings. Every one knows
people have died due to the riots. We all know government
troops as well as rioters have used live bullet. Police men
as well as rioters died in this incident. What will be an
eye opening when this report comes out is why there was so
much killing? Even a single person death is too much.
A certain person(Judge) who claims to have been appointed
by the government to the commission is the source for the
AP story. Why did he leave the country? Was he biased and
not fit thus has a problem with the government? Regardless
the commission's report ought not be politicized, unless we
are doomed to repeat the same mistake. The Judge should work
within the system. The commission should release its findings
to the proper channel and avoid the Ana Gomes syndrome.

Reporter denying Tigrians a
proper burial
The owner of the Reporter is one among the few lucky
individuals who have benefited personally to have been a TPLF member.
Many TPLF members lost their lives in the struggle and were not
as lucky as he is. Araya Zerihun was one of a kind humanitarian
and development hero. His death was felt by many as a huge loss.
However one would not know this if he/she reads the Reporter's'"kubur
minister" series. Araya is beloved by many, the Reporter should
not have found former CUD member showing their respect and sympathy
to Araya's family as a surprise. If he did he should have carried
a front page story about it. We are not sure if the owner of the
Reporter is mad or happy cud supporters showed up for Araya's funeral.
One thing we can be sure is the owner is in complete disregard to
our culture. The very least he should allow those of us who are
mourning to have our time and space. The reporter would have had
some semblance of credibility if he was brave enough give "a
tigrian" a proper burial himself before asking the extreme
Diaspora to do so. The paper should have learned that self respect
comes before asking others to respect you. Araya does not need a
node from the extreme Diaspora, nor be used by a paper, to the embarrassment
of any self respecting person, to plead the good grace of the extreme
Diaspora. Araya has earned his place in history through his dedication
to the betterment of his fellow Ethiopians. We
could have said more on this but in memory of Araya, our wonderful
friend and mentor, who always told us to shy away from controversy
and to remain positive at all times thus we shall say no more.

Comment:The Ethiopian Government should hold
Amnesty International to task and ask them to name names the people killed.
As much as Hailu Shawel was accorded a doctor form South Africa any detainee
family ought to be notified if their loved one is dead at the very least.
If Amnesty International is as always spewing unfounded allegation by
the vocal Diaspora then the government should expose them.

Do people elect the party or the individual for
parliament? For EPRDF that has not yet internalized western party
formation, it is clear that the individual is irrelevant. While
elected member can change party affiliation it can only do so to
a party with legal basis. The coalition did not materialize as a
party because member parties did not agree. The insistence that
the CUD is a result of the four parties is wishful thinking, that
asks people to be blind to the public secret, that despite their
shroud of common front membership, parities of the CUD are too acrimonious
to form a single party. Had the CUD been one party there would not
have been such infighting b/n it members for a seat. Hailu Shawil’s
AEUP would not have tried to run by it self and EUDP-Medhin would
not have felt the regret of compromising its stand for a coalition
that almost cost its existence. It is unfortunate that coalition
leaders chose brinkmanship end up in prison than building the CUD
on a strong foundation. The CUD in parliament is not even recognized
by these people to legitimately claim to their heir-apparent. The
CUD in parliament has the choice of going to their mother party
or state that their affiliation now is with the newly reconstituted
CUD that is formed by individuals after the election for their vote
to be counted a such. But enough already with cry baby attitude
of CUD fantasizers. They should start to act as mature party that
owns up to its shortcoming.

If the last election is any lesson we doubt
if EPRDF knows the division b/n government and the party. The fact
that the campaign manager and government representative are one
and he same, in the last election, was effectively used by the opposition.
Having opted to execute “unblemish election”, EPRDF
campaign manager spent his time addressing opposition complaint
and no time for campaign strategy. He almost lost his own seat by
opposition fraud. Finance can not be an excuse, to have a government
representative who minds government business and party representative
who does party business with out conflict of interest, especially
when Ethiopia is at a stage where party/government institutions
are blurred and clear line b/n government/party is prerequisite
for building strong institutions. While the effort to bring about
the youth and the other interest group is a good beginning, EPRDF
is opaque and uninspiring Front. Unless EPRDF is able to mold itself
as modern party it would be the first casuality of the democratic
space it is creating.

Nothing Good
can come out of the Algiers Agreement
"DUTNA"
Comment...It always puzzles
us when some people read what is not written. Who ever this group
is we are sure they have read the prime minister quoted to have said
the Algiers Agreement is terminally ill(in his report to the United
Nation Secretary), and as recent as last week to have said, the Algiers
Agreement is non existence. Now we know there are groups who are blood
thirsty who wish war for our people yesterday, today and tomorrow.
That is sad. Otherwise given all the pertaining environment Ethiopia
has masterfully handled the Algiers Agreement. PM Meles is not a war
monger for sure and Ethiopia should be very happy to have him.BTW,
this is the very same group(or derivative of) who have been telling
us Meles gave Badme to Shaibya in 2003? "DUTNA" humility is
not bad thing!.
