Open Letter to National Press Club
Dear Mr. Zremski:- The rhetoric and the premises upon which HR2003 was drafted are based on lies and innuendos that do not accurately reflect the facts about Ethiopia.
Congressman Chris Smith grilled at the National press Club!
Aigaforum Oct 22, 2007: Congressman Chris Smith was a speaker at the National Press Club in Washington DC on 10/22/07. He was there to speak about Ethiopia. The congressman oblivious to the fierce independent sprit that runs top to down in every Ethiopians has been trying to pass legislation to undermine Ethiopia and it government.
Today he seemed to realize how much Ethiopians are ready to defend their history and culture. The congressman was asked to explain how as a congressman he can ally with the ONLF and endorse the atrocities this terrorist organization was incurring on peace loving Ethiopians. He was asked why he singles out Ethiopia a country that is striving to establish democratic order. Why not Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt and many more other African countries with no inkling of democratic system?
Majority of the questions forwarded to the congressman were from the anti HR2003 group and as one observer told Aigaforum the congressman was surprised. The congressman was used to hearing mostly from his supporters in the extreme opposition camp, which he was asked why he does not want to listen to others with different view of Ethiopia and why he ignores the fact that six police men were killed in the aftermath of election 2005 and the riot was not a peaceful demonstration but a violent demonstration aimed to topple the legal government? Congressman Smith left the podium surprised. And we all can guess why! Ethiopians are defending their independence!

We urge our readers to listen to VOA Amharic interview with Professor Mesfin. To borrow a phrase from ABC Sports, this interview was clearly The Agony of Defeat". Who ever the Interviewer was she was clearly in agony that DR Berhanu, the chosen one, was not getting the endorsement from the aging professor. Yesterday, VOA was acting as if it is an Ethiopian media outlet with huge interest in CUD! Was it that way all along?
