Statement by the Embassy of Ethiopia on Action by House Foreign Affairs Committee
Ethiopia is a close ally of the United States in the fight against terrorism and efforts to promote regional stability in the Horn of Africa. It also is a country overcoming daunting challenges to build a new democracy while improving the economic fortunes of its 76 million people. Today a Congressional committee recklessly approved a measure undermining these efforts and the critical relationship with the U.S.

Update A stripped down version of HR2003 that has no bearing on Ethiopia for many reasons is slated to be mark-up as a last resort to save Donald Payne face in the house foreign relation committee.
The bill is expected to die yet another death in the full house. If Donald Payne is genuine about human right he would have given attention to human right issues such as Gena6 which has taken the attention of human right activists all over the US. Charity starts at home!
The new mark-up does not include many of the controversial recommendations included in the first draft and even if it passes has no benefit to Ethiopia except to fool the extreme Diaspora to feel they have accomplished something and give them hope to live one more another day. This was what we were trying to avoid when we air our opposition to HR2003.The extremist will have another December to live waiting for a recessed congress to come back for the passage of HR2003 in the house! Not sure if Ethio-zagol guys deserve such accolade after running "kinjit" to its grave by constantly feeding it false hope, but! any attempt to save these people to be come useful is welcomed at Aigaforum!
Ethio-Zagol should have used its means and resources to save Kinjit to be a loyal opposition instead of running with it to the abyss. Addis Fernji has a secured home she can fly any time to when she added fuel to the already burning fire during the aftermath of election 2005, what was Ethio-Zagol thinking when they pamper kinjit to destroy our fledgling democracy then and what changed now?

Sometime ago we read Ethiomedia was in negotiation to be bought by Yahoo!! Don't laugh we read it from the horses mouth the editor herself or himself! We though for a moment then, assuming it was true, what good did Yahoo see in that website!...then we realized it was not only the main editor but also the junior editor who has a personality issue. Hey buddies, lighten up and know your place in time. Don’t fool yourself that you are doing something useful for society or Yahoo for that matter! A lot of people that own a domain name usually get solicitation from some spammers. Perhaps you were such a victim! Any ways be humble and respect your readers and stop embarrassing Ethiopians by lying left and right!
