Dr.Yacob. Disparity of wish and reality.

Dr.Yacob Hailemariam, in an interview with reporter and one that is castigated by Ethiolion, seems to have taken offense at the label of “MOLACHOCH” to describe the now defunct CUD given it had internationally renowned people and elders. If there were dignified people they must have left their hat at home. The undignified path this organization took dates back to the insult to Carter (“Shimaglew Zelabede”), to the insult to Alamudi, the dogging of government press that came to cover them then, the total disrespect of the election process and institutions of the country and ended up in their attempt to humiliate Hailu Shawil, a person who they still call their leader and yes their elder.

This is an organization whose so called leaders seems to cherish being called “ARADA” and pompous rhetoric than being involved in actions that is commensurate to their education, a character exhibited in some African American elites who throw away ivy league education for street credit and “GET IT REAL” (as opposed to changing the life of ghetto dwellers by showing their achievement).

This is an organization that has not dissociated from people who pride themselves in arguing against the discussion with renowned personalities and civic whether to enter parliament for they believe this sect of the society worries more about its status than the struggle and those whose rhetoric about confronting with the ruling party will snuff any civility the Dr has in mind. This is an organization which has one sensible review forwarded, so far-the one by Leader of Ethiopian Democratic League (EDL) who, unfortunately, chose to remain on the side for fear of not being scapegoat for CUD’s debacle. Until people of dignity and foresight reign on the Old KESTEDEMENA the now UDJ, it will be known by its two poster boys Andargachew Tsege, and Dr.Birhanu and remain b/n a rock and hard place. What ever happened is their business, however the lesson learned is, not to compromise the government in such a way that the democratization process will depend on the good will of the opposition who can’t put its acts together let alone contribute positively to the process.[Alula Nega]
