Dear Aiga,
I am hoping that you post this letter.
It amazes me that EPRDF does not try and utilize all the tools it has at its disposal, such as the media. I am talking about the fact that they can do more to get ETV into more homes, and disseminate more information to the Diaspora-how do they expect us to get any info regarding all the positive news coming out of Ethiopia? How about the ability to promote tourism, culture and diversity enjoyed by Ethiopia to the Ethiopian youth in the Diaspora.
They should promote ETV to the Diaspora. Since ETV can promote culture uniqueness and unity, progress in the Ethiopian Economy visually, and much more. Well guess what, they have opted to broadcast it via satellite, but yet most of the Ethiopians in the Diaspora live in apartments and thus cannot install satellites. Go figure.
We here in the Diaspora have been eclipsed by the rhetoric played out everyday by the opposition. One cannot even contradict a point of their view, without being called an EPRDF sympathizer. They even have their own TV station.
The government of Ethiopia should do more to help those that try and shed a positive light on the current direction of Ethiopia. The media is very important, and they should know better to utilize and promote it now, to all Ethiopians. The embassy should also get more involved in promoting ETV.
Sincerely,
Metaferia Hailu
