Dear Aiga
I am surprised that you are angry at the
analysis of Aboy Sebhat's recent interview on Dimitsi Woyane by the respected
Tecola Hagos. I don’t know Prof. Tecola nor did I see him in person, but from
his writing on current affairs and other issues which are available on
the internet, it is clear, Prof. Tecola is not a stooge of any political
organization at home or in Diaspora.
I once remember sending an e-mail to Prof.
Tecola criticizing his praise for one racist - Prof. Getachew Haile. But
he later on put it in perspective in one of his articles that appeared on his
website - that he doesn’t like the professor’s (Haile) idea.
He is someone who speaks his mind. I believe
he appreciates the achievements made through TPLF/EPRF, at the same time he
doesn’t agree on issues like Eritrea
and National interest and the stance taken by TPLF.
Aboy Sebhat did not hide his feelings. He was
very straightforward. In fact he appeared more Catholic than the Pope when it
comes to Eritrea . From
the interview it looked as if Aboy Sebhat has a ‘mistress’ he loves so much,
called Eritrea . I don’t
understand why Aboy Sebhat or TPLF leadership is always bent on angering
Ethiopians? Why do some TPLF leader (Past and Current) love to provide more
ammunition to their oppositions every time they give an interview or make a
press statement. In general it appears the old man or TPLF/EPRDF leadership are
so infatuated with Eritrea
that they don’t care winning the hearts and minds of Ethiopian people. May be
their problem is they don’t know what public relation is.
Every time we want to challenge hard core
Derg, extremist Amharas and their supporter that TPLF/EPRDF is really for Ethiopia or Tigray, pro Eritrea TPLFites utter
something which damages the credibility of the organization. Their message also
sends shock wave that kills the pride of millions of Tigrayans/Ethiopians.
More and more, It drives away the silent majority supporters. But tell me Aiga
what is wrong with Aboy Sebhat? Is it because he cares more for Eritrea than Tigray/Ethiopia? I
would like to believe there are people who care more for Ethiopia in the leadership of
TPLF but they are restrained by people like Aboy Sebhat.
Aboy Sebhat is unashamed when he talks about
Eritrean Nationalism (Eritreans being nationalists) and glorifies it, where as
he gives the impression that he rejects Ethiopian Nationalism. This is a big
paradox and rekindles an already existing fear and doubt about the organization
amongst the people. I don’t know what is going on in the mind of this old man;
what I know is he is now a liability to Tigray. As if the blood paid by the
innocent is not enough, he is such an arrogant person when he said that TPLF
will fight for Eritrea when
Ethiopia at moment is in
a state of war with the same country. No one in his right mind would say this.
The least we would have expected from Aboy
Sebhat was praise for the sacrifice made by thousands of martyrs to remove Derg
and not preoccupation with Eritrea .
The timing was also not appropriate. It was a
bombshell in the new millennium.
Kind Regards,
Monaliza. D Tesfahiwot
