Eritrea abrogated the Algiers Agreement

The government of Ethiopia and The United Nations need to declare that Eritrea abrogated the Algiers agreement by violating the most important parts of the treaties. The violations of Temporary Security Zone for a long time and the removal of the peace keepers completely null and void the Algiers treaty. It is only fair to state the obvious and punish the guilty party. We Ethiopians expect and call upon our government and the signatories of the Algiers agreement to come out openly and make accountable and responsible the government of Eritrea for the abrogation of the treaty. Simply moving the peace keepers from security zone is nothing but submissions to the bulling of the Eritrean dictator. The United Nations Security Council and the parties to the Algiers agreement must urgently need to remedy the situation and find appropriate sanctions against the Eritrean regime. It is shame and inexcusable to let the dictator get away once more for repeated aggressions and violations of peace and security of the entire horn.    

For years the regime of Eritrea frustrated and did all kind of sabotages to undermine and sideline the treaty which saved it from total defeat and humiliations.  For the government of Ethiopia it was wrong to sign the Algiers agreement and expect to be honored by the government of Eritrea. The Algiers agreement is more of a face saving for the Eritrean government and is a burden for Ethiopia. Indeed this agreement turns the Ethiopian victory to defeat and extended the life of the Eritrean dictator for another term. Nevertheless, the effort of the Ethiopian government to seek peaceful resolutions of the conflict with Eritrea failed again and again as the result of the belligerency and refusal of the Eritrean government. As the matter of fact no one, I repeat no one can hold dialogue and make peace with the government of Eritrea. The Eritrean government shown the whole world beyond doubts its aversion and detest for peace and rapprochement.  The Eritrean government has no desire, capacity, ability and skills to behave in civilized way and deal with other nations in matters of significant national and global importance.

In light of the present experience the government of Ethiopia owes the people of Ethiopia full explanations as to the current situations, the fate of the Algiers agreement and the relocations of the peace keepers on the soil of Ethiopia. The Ethiopian government also must declare that Eritrea abrogated the Algiers agreement and that the international community is duty bound to remedy the situations without delay. As the government of Eritrea is erratic, prone to violent and unpredictable, our government must take all necessary steps to safeguards the security and the integrity of the country. We Ethiopian also must come together and support our government and be ready to defend our people from the coming dangers.   It is illogical and impossible to expect peace from the regimes of Eritrea. The people of Ethiopia and Eritrea must work together to remove this dictator and bring peace to the two sisterly countries.
