Eritrean Government warns Kenya and Uganda

(Aigaforum April 03, 2007):-

The regime in Asmara not knowing what to make out of Eritrea once it secede from Ethiopia has tired to make enemies out of all its immediate neighbor countries. It went to war with Yemen, Djibouti, Sudan and Ethiopia. Its adventure with all neighbors has netted Eritrea misery and isolation. Unable to learn from past mistakes the regime has been poking on the only super power the United States. Luckily the USA is not that much interested to come down to its level. Undeterred it seem the regime has now gone one more step searching for a fight with distant neighbors. The regime has now put a notice to Kenya and Uganda. After suffering a humiliating defeat and a forceful early exit from Somalia the regime is looking for an escape goat in Kenya and Uganda

The Eritrean regime until today has tried to pretend it was not involved in Somalia. However as days pass the regime realized some of its running dogs who were organizing and leading the extremist elements may not see the day light in Eritrea again! And if ever, may not be coming home undetected as it had hoped for.

As readers recall one of the fleeing Eritrean caught at the Kenyan border wrote an open letter to his country men to help his safe release from jail. Apparently the prisoner was sent by Eritrean government under a false name with a falsified passport trying to hide from the international community Eritrea's involvement in Somalia. Having heard such denial and seen Eritrea’s involvement first hand, PM Meles in one of his interviews said his army is looking for Eritreans wearing Somali clothing in Somalia! We know now one of those Eritreans who escape the Ethiopian army caputure wrote from Kenya pleading to his country men in Diaspora to help his release after he realized his own government was trying to deny his involvement and legally can not ask the Kenyan government since he was not an Eritrean passport holder. Today the Eritrean government has issued a warning to the Kenyan government if they do not "release these prisoners" they will be held responsible! What a turn of events! It is believed most of Eritrean caught entering Kenya were transferred/handed back to Somalia!

The Eritrean regime if one can call it a regime at all has become embarrassment to its own people and to AU. The Uganda peace mission in Somalia is authorized and operating legally in Somalia. Eritrea being a member of AU ought to respect this mission. It should not be issuing warning after warning to AU member countries. Not sure if  president Isayas Afeworki understand diplomacy but the recent stop over by President Museveni should have given Eritrea an exit door cover from Somalia that it needs very much. Its involvement in Somalia is going no where and Ethiopia in no way is going to allow it to set foot in that country again.
