Press Release

Washington, DC

April 25, 2007

We, the member of the Ethiopian Somali Advocacy Council, wish to send our condolences and deep sympathy for the families of the Chinese and Ethiopian workers who were savagely killed at the Able oil field in the Somali regional state of Ethiopia.

This killing was a disgraceful act.  These workers were not only supporting their families but also improving the lives of all the people living in Ethiopia’s Somali Region.

This heinous crime is completely unacceptable.  Although nothing can bring back the lives of these innocent workers, we ask the Government of Ethiopia to bring the perpetuators of this senseless and cowardly crime to justice.

The Ethiopian Somali Advocacy Council calls upon all peace-loving countries to condemn the killings carried out by the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) with the material and technical support of the Eritrean Government

We as a nation will continue to move forward in promoting democracy, economic development and peace for all people in the region.

Abdul S. Ibrahim (President)
