The Ethiopian people at home and through out the world rejected HR 2003.
Negative campaign by the old regime and their supporters in diaspora continues in North America. They are touring with no destination and spending so much energy and time to lobby to get HR2003 passed in the United States senate. They are playing games as political parties in one hand and signing agreements with the terrorist group ONLF to fight against the Ethiopian government on the other hand. They are confused with no alternative or clear agenda for the Ethiopian people. Instead, they focus on individual personal attacks and hatred against ethnic groups.
As we all can recall in our recent memory, Ana Gomse rushed to conclusions and aired her distorted ,wrong report to the media before the 2005 election was even officially over. As a result, violence ignited by the CUD to take power at the expense of the Ethiopian people. Here you go again; HR 2003 is designed by congress man Donald Payne to satisfy individuals or groups special interests, to get power using short cuts.
HR2003 does not have the mandate to represent the Ethiopian people’s interest. The Ethiopian people at home and throughout the world rejected HR 2003 with one voice. They did it because it is against their dignity, their identity and their sovereignty. Peace does not mean all is forgotten. The Ethiopian government and the Ethiopian people shall not allow the country to be taken back to the time when everyone was told what to think and what to do. No one can take the Ethiopian people’s freedom away from them.
An old Chinese proverb said, “Don’t wait until you are thirsty to start digging the well”.
Regardless of all the obstacles by CUD and their supporters in diaspora, the Ethiopian government and the Ethiopian people waste no time digging the well and minimizing the effects of decades of cumulative, huge problems. They are committed to establish a democratic system that will respect nations and nationalities self determination.
The Ethiopian people are better off today than any other time in Ethiopian history.
It is time for all Ethiopians to safeguard their democracy, role their sleeves up, and work to eliminate poverty to make our country a better place for generations to come.
