Happy Id-Mubarek Ethiopia!

As has been my practice since I got a satellite connection to Ethiopian TV recently, this morning I briefly turned on my TV and I heard a message sent by Sheik Mohammed Alamoudin followed by an inspirational song by a young Ethiopian new artist. I felt quenched for the day! The lyrics in that song were loaded with good messages that I recommend everyone to see/listen to. (Abro meblat bahlachin ende-hone hulu abro MESRATm bahlachin yihun –is one message that stuck in my mind)

Alamoudin’s message was so moving that one is tempted to say that Ethiopia is really blessed to have sons such as Alamoudin. This man is really as rare as Haile-Gebreselasie – people who pop up once in a lifetime.

The love that this philanthropist and businessman has for Ethiopia is truly immense. In his speech he reiterated his commitment to his country and said that he is blessed to be born as Ethiopian and call this graceful country his home.  He pleaded with his countrymen to work together and lift this country out of poverty so that all Ethiopians will hold their heads high with pride.  He reminded us how tolerant and respectful our people are. He reiterated the fact that Ethiopians are just people who have no qualm with ethnic and religious differences. He recalled how the two great religions of Ethiopia lived together side by side and shared their happiness and sorrow together.  He encouraged the current sense of equality of faiths as expressed in the current years to be strengthened. He implored us to help this culture of tolerance to flourish.  He called upon followers of all religions of Ethiopia to protect this country and cherish it dearly.

Now, this is what I call a heartfelt message and wish by a man who dearly loves his country.  This is a spirit of Ramadan.

Sheik Mohammed Alamoudin is truly a hero.  Let Allah/God bless him with health and long-life.

I wish all the followers of Prophet Mohammed Id Mubarik and Ethiopians a happy holiday.

Ethiopia is on the right track.

Good days are to come!!
