Hard to Ignore Dagmawi:

On Population Growth, Ogaden and Fault Finding

I have hard time ignoring Dagmawi, I really tried hard to ignore him but always end up reading him. The guy was good until he started his confusing election 101 materials in support of CUD. On hindsight he must be dying inside he supported cud thinking they were the chosen one to unseat PM Melse Zenawi now that he sees them fighting left and right for domination among themselves. Dagmawi holds PM Meles Zenawi for stopping the war with Eritrea and for not going all the way to Asmara. Some how, as many others did, Dagmawi felt he was betrayed and never forgave the EPRDF government.

Ever since Dagmawi has been looking, combing swiftly every news item, looking for anything to undermine the government of PM Meles Zenawi. His East Gojjam vs. West Gojjam election analysis mimicking the talking heads coverage of election here in the States was one! Also his Ogaden crocodile tears in tandem with New York Times as well as his review of the “Revolutionary Democracy” as argued by Meles Zenawi have been the best examples how an otherwise good and smart person can be blinded by personal hate love relationship.

Today I read him complaining about the population growth in Ethiopia. Guess what, he is blaming the government. He is not asking the government to look in to this, as it is a national problem, noooo! He is asking you and me to throw and kick the EPRDF government from office!

Dagmawi clearly knows the government has done a marvelous job to keep the economy growing mitigating the effects of population growth! In EPRDF’s time the population has risen from some 60+ million to close to 80 million yet the country that used to face starvation and famine with much less population than it has today has avoided famine and starvation as we all know it. Yet, Dagmawi thinks they have not done much worthy of staying in power.

Leaving aside the argument if population growth is a problem by itself to experts, how and why Dagmawi thinks the EPRDF government has not done its share short of forcing (sort of) people to have one child like china does is beyond me. How blind can one become by a love hate relationship? Dagmawi please give it up, Meles is way beyond you as a person. The Prime minister will leave office on his will or if his party chooses another person. Wishing anything else on your part is simply a wish that will not come true.

Before you confuse yourself and many more readers, know that Ethiopia’s problem and socio and political landscape cannot be molded similar to that of any of the western nations. Do you know what it means to have a child in Ethiopia? Do you know how Ethiopia is solving its internal problems one by one? I am sure you remember the Gambella problem. Don’t you?  You know how Ethiopia came through when the region was identified with oil potential and immediately engulfed with all sort of bad news? Ignoring the west cry the government with the help of the people managed to bring peace and stability by investigating and mitigating internal problems and by engaging and destroying the mercenaries sent there by the Eritrean regime.

The Ogaden issue in Somali region of Ethiopia, like the Gambella problem got international recognition soon after China announced it would carry oil exploration in the area. You know how the West dislikes Communist China and how Shaibya is ready to help ONLF, OLF or any one to undermine the EPRDF government? Right? Who knows how many other Ethiopians are in the payroll of Ethiopia’s enemies to be honest about it! Any ways, I digress.

The Ogaden issue will be resolved the same way the Gambella issue was resolved. The problem is what is in it for you that you are undermining the government effort there? Don’t you think the ONLF is anti Ethiopia? After all you are from the one Ethiopia at all cost mindset aren’t you? If not what was your obsession of going all the way to Asmara then? “…..engam aweken gudguad chirenal!”

Yours,
