How to make an Adversary…out of a supporter
It is said that the Arena’s
have no Agenda and TPLF/EPRDF should not sleep on the wheel in countering their
action. Reading the how to
manual…it shows TPLF will cede no ground to them. However the approach goes
too far
.
1. Identify ..who they talk to, what they talk about .. where their supporters
work, how they organize.
2.Identify individual who is supposed to be recruited and make him aware how
bad they are and what good things TPLF is doing and get on board
3. Make sure that his family and his neighbors are not misinformed.
It is mind
boggling how this conversation goes… “oh…I heard you are supporters of Arena…?”
and I say “None of your “fS#$$@n business”. (Pardon my language).End of
conversation. I will probably fetch my “Viva Gebru” T-shirt from the attic when
I found out I can’t even vent my frustration to family members because they are
browbeaten to turn against me. ..and according to the cry wolf opponent claim
..I will end up loosing my job and end in up in prison.
It is pointed out that Arena has no Agenda and if it was not for inter- party
intolerance of the Party they would have stayed with HIWIHAT with their
principle intact.
It is pointed out to respect the personalities of arena and not infringe on
their right that is endowed by the constitution. Going after individuals and
their family is pure harassment. For starters TPLF should dissociate itself
from these activity. Aiga may need a “Minority Report” section on how these
misguided create an adversary from a supporter and have a closer look on
democratization in Tigray.Alula Nega, 01/30/08

Dear Aiga,
democracy is nothing without choices and Tigray can not be the exception
I am happy that you commented on the TPLF document. A few weeks ago I was in Tigray for a field work and was asked to comment on this TPLF document on Arena. It was shocking for me how low some Cadres of TPLF could be. The ABC of democracy dictates choices and alternatives to be provided to the voter. Tigray has not tried this. Even "Doro wot" if served every day is not good for the health. If Arenas's are as bad as claimed by the ruling TPLF, let the voter decide and neithter the Arena's nor any other person should be harassed for exercising democracy so long as they play their games under the rule of law. I know for sure some of the guys within Arena are simply for vengence and neither Arena's venging democracy nor CUD's Mobocracy is good for the country. But this all should be sorted out within the bounds of rule of law and by the voter. Tigray can not afford to continue what has failed in many parts of Africa: one party democracy. I repeat even doro wot if served too much is no good for health.
