It is time to say no and defeat HR2003!

It is time for America to learn from past mistakes and not make important decisions about other countries solely based on information provided by small but determined interest groups.

It is time for America ’s law makers to take their time to differentiate between real friends and enemies!

Ethiopia , one of the oldest Christian countries in the world, and its people have always been friends of America and historically closely allied itself with America .  The only time an Ethiopian government declared America an enemy was during the cold war era in the 1970’s and 1980’s when the murderous Marxist regime was in power killing its citizens in millions while no one was watching.  When the current Ethiopian government came to power in 1991 by defeating this Marxist regime, most of the key members of the deposed government and their families came to America seeking asylum and settled here.  Unfortunately, it is this group now working under a disguise that has suddenly become vocal and more religious than the pope and trying to convince you to pass HR2003 with the sole purpose of returning to power at any cost.

Ethiopia has seen significant social, political and economic developments in the last 17 years.  It has embarked on establishing democratic institutions and allowed freedom of movement, press and speech unprecedented in the history of the country.  Its constitution treats all ethnic groups in the country equally and that unfortunately has made a few number of Ethiopians very uncomfortable and forced them to align themselves with the above-mentioned ex-Marxists who are fighting to pass HR2003.

Through their lies and deceit, these groups have misled and convinced many unsuspecting Ethiopians and Americans into believing that HR2003 is good for Ethiopia .

In a world, and at a time when hating America and its people has increasingly become the norm, Ethiopia is one of a very few countries still standing shoulder to shoulder with America .  These above groups hated America in the past but, as the ultimate opportunists, they are now trying to use the Congress and Senate of the United States of America to punish one of the few countries still standing!

It is time to support Ethiopia in its current struggles to defeat the enemies of America and establish democratic institutions.  America can not afford to lose a key and reliable alley in the war against terrorism.  It is time to say no and defeat HR2003!
