A Report Reaffirming a Strong
Stance of Backing Terrorism
The Eritrean leader president Isayas Afeworki in his recently held interview with the United Nations News Center (IRIN) in Asmara, boldly said ‘Backing armed forces is all about loving peace”. This firm stand of him is a clear indication that his government is pursuing a terrorist policy.
When the Union of the Islamic Courts (UIC) exerted the utmost effort to disrupt the peace and stability of the horn of Africa by openly calling Jihad on Ethiopia, it was quite clear for the world that the Eritrean government was not only providing armaments, technical and human power support but to have also directly participated . This is a fact made clear by president Isayas himself. It would remain clear only to president Isayas Afeworki and the likes as to on what criteria can any one become peace lover by supporting a terrorist group like UIC and other armed forces involved in creating havoc in the horn! The group’s [UIC] affiliation with Alkaeda is a proof that the group is dangerous not only to the Horn but the rest of the world.
By and large, backing the terrorist group by illegitimately ousting the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia that has been recognized by the United Nations, the African Union and the International Community as a whole could not make Isayas Afeworki a peace-lover, but put him rather to be on a terrorist list.
It has been quite a long time since it became evident that Isayas’s government, which has the policy of disturbing the peace and tranquility of the horn of Africa, has been provoking all the surrounding countries of the region.
What is needed for Africa is development and growth. It is undeniable that peace is basic necessity to bring about development and growth. The interview vividly reveals the firm terrorist stand of the Eritrean government. Hence, it is an indication for the International community that it needs to take prompt measure to stop President Isayas Afeworki and his government from disrupting Africa and threatening the peace and the security of the whole World.
