REPORT ON TDA FUND RAISING NIGHT

 

(Aug 17, 2006):-A fund raising night that was well orchestrated and organized by  TDA  Seattle chapter has delivered its fruits in its usual fashion up beating the hearts and  minds of those who Wish to see the objective of TDA fulfilled in a shorter possible time.

 

The night was remarkably celebrated by over 200 [two hundred people from Seattle,Portland and surrounding areas. And also Distinguished EPRDF personalities.Ambassador MP, Dr. Adisalem  Balema, co-founder and current executive director of TDA Ambassador  Tewolde Gebru  and Ethiopian honorary consul general in Seattle Ato Selomon  Tadesse.

 

The music was sensational and the crowd was observed to have enjoyed the night to the fullest eating a delicious Ethiopian traditional food, drinking and dancing all night long.Playing lottery was also part of the entertainment where people participated in buying tickets hoping that the money they spend on the tickets will do well in the school Project while giving them a chance to win the draw.

 

The program was opened by a welcome speech from the chair person of TDA Seattle Branch. The chair person has also thanked the crowd for their tireless and unreserved support to what ever our people in Tigay make a call for a help, be it for security reasons or development purposes.

 

Right after the chair person speech, the TDA Seattle chapter chief accountant presented the financial position of the Association, and he demonstrated that the amount raised to date to build schools in Tigay is $54,000.00[fifty four thousand dollars]. He also noted that the amount is short by $ 16,000.00[sixteen thousand dollars] to cover the costs of the second school building project to be undertaken by the Seattle TDA branch, and it is a  responsibility we all have to fulfill as soon as possible.

 

Ambassador Tewolde, Executive director of TDA international on his part, thanked the crowd for their participation in the efforts of developing Tigray and addressed the progress of TDA by portraying video clips of some development school projects as Supporting evidence TDA is achieving under his leadership.

 

The Seattle TDA chair person Presented ambassador Tewolde a $35,000.00(thirty five thousand dollars) check payable towards the necessary costs to build Tahtay Adyabo School undertaken by the Seattle TDA chapter.

 

As it can be understood from the above explained account of the Seattle of the Seattle fund raising event it was ended meaningfully making all concerned participants happy and fulfilled.

 

Apart from the fund raising event, a general meeting chaired by Dr. Adisalem Balema Was held the next day and a significant amount of people attended the meeting. Ambassador Dr Adisalem Balema discussed issues regarding the current political and Economic situations governing our country.

 

In his speech Dr.Adisalem explained that the current situation in Ethiopia is stable, the economical polices are conducive to attract investors and entrepreneurs to endeavor the search to meet their goals and needs.  He also encouraged all Ethiopians in the Diaspora to enjoy the economic policy in place at this time and make a use of it to achieve their needs by investing in their homeland.

 

A number of questions regarding national security of our country vis-à-vis the ill intention of Shaebiya and the political development in Somalia were also raised from the crowd and were promptly and satisfactorily answered by Dr.Adisalem. He assured the crowd that Ethiopia is well equipped politically, economically and militarily to crash any sort of force that attempts to distract peace and development in our country. However, He also said that it has never been and that it will never be the Ethiopian government’s policy to Initiate a war with any government or political organization that did not take the initiative to undermine our sovereignty and democratic process..
