Response to G.E.Gorfu “THE_ANCIENT_TOWN_OF_ADWA..”

I have read the series of articles by Ato G. E. Gorfu on Adwa.  The information is very compelling and requires serious attention by all those concerned. The historical significance of the town of Adwa is well established.  What remains mysterious is how this history of such national importance has not received due attention by policy makers and politicians at regional and federal levels.  This is very intriguing indeed!!  One only hopes that this message to all Ethiopians will be a wake-up call for the concerned authorities.  It is time that some action is taken to change the status quo in Adwa and its surrounding.

The suggestions forwarded by Ato G. E. Gorfu could serve as a good start to break the stalemate. He has presented an excellent and rewarding vision for Adwa.  We all need to support such a comprehensive and practical approach to the problems of Adwa in particular and Tigray in general.  The federal government should take the lead to organize, coordinate and implement all development activities related to the task on hand. It is a national priority and should not be left to individuals, associations and NGO’s. Now is the time to take the appropriate action to correct the sad conditions in Adwa.

As part of the historical background, I would like to suggest the inclusion of the history and a photo of a famous personality, Ato Zemenfes Kidus Abraha, who was a dynamic disciple of Haleka Tewolde Medhin Gebru.  He was a scholar and philosopher who made significant contribution in the realm of Christianity and in modernizing the Orthodox Church. He was the author of Hateta Menafist and Tegsasina Miker, among half a dozen other books.  I sincerely believe this son of Adwa was a pioneer in his own right and deserves to be mentioned with all the others as part and parcel of the history of Adwa.
