(August 23,2006): -The meeting took place on
August 20,2006 in Dallas, and was attended by many Tigrean
compatriots from Dallas, neighboring cities and states.
The meeting was also
honored by Mr. Gobezay Weldegebrial, who is CC
of TPLF and an elected official from Tigray state
and Mr. Omer Nur Muhammed who is a board
member of TDA international.
The main purposes of the
meeting were to have an honest and constructive discussion with the
Tigrean community in our area about the current TDA projects. We believed this
kind of meeting gives our Tigrean compatriots an opportunity to ask
any questions without reservations to identify the weakness of TDA chapter
in our area and come out with constructive ideas that will empower it.
After the welcome
speech Mr. Tadessie Hagos, who is the
chairperson of the temporary organizing committee introduced Mr. Gobezay
and Mr. Omer to the crowd, then after Mr. Omer, thanked the organizing
committee for creating such a meeting. He also presented a short
report regarding the history of TDA international
and the number of schools, clinics and vocational training
built by TDA in Tigray.
Then the crowd
spent hours asking questions, giving suggestions related to TDA,
investment in Tigray and the ill intentions of the Eritrean government
or Shaebiya, and the political developments in Somalia. The two honored guests
gave satisfactory answers for all the questions. Especially, to the ill
intentions of shaebia, Mr. Gobezay assured the crowed, that Ethiopia was
ready to crash any sort of force who tries to undermine the sovereignty and
democratic process in Ethiopia
The
meeting was also surprised by many generous people who made a big donation in
cash and pledges. More than 12000.00 dollars donated in cash and
pledges on the same day.
