Update On Dr Berhanu vs. Hailu Shawel, Chapter II

Aigaforum 12/23/07: - The convicted and pardon leaders of the now defunct collation CUD has finalized their house of cards. Chapter one has been written and concluded when Hailu Shawel fired Dr Berhanu and Birtukan! Although the Berhanu group seem to enjoy the support of most Diaspora followers inside the country it is all Hailu Shawel.

The other day we read a story somewhere on the web that Birtukan was able to secure and establish an office in Addis. This after her first attempt to storm AEUP’s (AEUP is Hailu Shawel old party) headquarters ended in failure was welcome news to her supporters in Diaspora. But like a good book a new chapter starts with a bang and it is exactly that what Birtukan tried to do on 12/23/07 at 2pm Addis Ababa time.

According to our reliable source in Addis Birtukan supporters close 500 of them were instructed to assemble at AEUP office in Addis, the one near Tewodros Adebabay. Apparently the plan was to storm the office and declare this as their new office. However only 20 showed up and they were no matches to the guards. After a very good skirmish the guards prevailed and Birtukan Mideksa once again left in shame. We were told by our source, the police was never called and did not attempt to interfere.

For now Hailu Shawel with his strong followers from AEUP is outsmarting every move by the vacationing politician DR Berhanu. Birtukan is no match to the much savvy old guards who constitute AEUP. DR Birhanu’s movement seems to be more popular in Diaspora than in Ethiopia. One wonders if this moment is a hired mercenaries movement. Otherwise what can one say by their poor showing in Ethiopia. We understand supporters left and right are doing what they were told by these leaders namely: do not rent, drink coffee and socialize with EPRDF supporters. The old adage “besfershu quna yeseferbeshal…”(you shall harvest what you sow) is alive and kicking. They cannot find an office to rent! Where did the millions we were told voted for them go?
