The Joint force of Ethiopia and Somalia Transitional Govt faced stiff resistance from extreme UIC elements and foreign mercenaries.
(Aigaforum, Dec 25, 2006)
Somalia transitional government force with the help of Ethiopian defense forces incurred a heavy blow to extreme UIC elements as well as foreign mercenaries.
The task force in the Dinsoor front is about to break the defense line of the extreme UIC and foreign mercenaries and “Jhadist”. Since yesterday this front has seen heavy casualties from both sides. Our source told us the UIC extreme elements tried to bring reinforcement from Kismayo how ever with a continuous bombardment and assault from the Joint force the line is nearly broken. The UIC extreme elements and their foreign mercenary forces are retreating. Since yesterday the loss from the extreme UIC side is over 450 dead, one thousand wounded and 67 Technical (trucks mounted with heavy machinegun) burnt and destroyed and many prisoners both Somalia’s and foreigners taken.
According to our sources the best showing from the UIC extreme elements and “jihadist” is so far in the Burr Hakaba front. After resisting a strong offense by the Task force at a “Dinnu?” (Between Baidoa and Burr Hakaba) it is retreating to Burr Hakaba their strong military base. The UIC fighters in this front are mainly foreigners and the resistance has been fierce. Over 400 foreign mercenaries as well UIC extreme elements were killed and over 1500 wounded. The losses from the Transitional govt and Ethiopian Defense forces are less than 200 dead and wounded.
At the same time the Beledweyen and Galakayo front is now quieter after former warlord “Mohammed Diri” was welcomed by residents in a warm reception to town. Source told us the task force would now march towards Jahwar leaving a day or two of quiet period. Somalians at last are taking matters in to their own hand and people from liberated areas in this front are establishing a network to connect with their brothers and sisters in towns controlled by extreme UIC elements. More cites in Galakayo area are now under the control of the transitional government and Punt land administration.
Mean while the Ethiopian Air force has destroyed a military camp for the “Jihadist” and extreme elements of the UIC in “Baledogle”. The camp is now deserted and useless. It has also attacked Mogadishu Airport with a precise attack using rockets and missiles after the Transitional government issued Somalia Sea and land off limit. All Somali Air and Sea is now off limit and any flying planes and docking ships are legitimate target with this decree.
The Joint Somalian and Ethiopian forces mission is to eradicate terrorist and extreme elements within the UIC. Prime minister Meles addressing the nation on TV told Ethiopians, Ethiopia does not have a problem with Somalia or for that matter UIC. Ethiopia’s problem is with the thousands of terrorist and mercenaries harbored and trained by the UIC with the aim to destabilize Ethiopia.
