Update on Engineer Hailu Shawel and Kinijit.

(Aigaforum 30, 2007):- As you recalled Engineer Hailu Shawel has been getting first degree care with the help of South African Doctors. Though his Diaspora supporters tell us daily about the inhuman treatment in prison the reality is the Ethiopian government is doing its level best to keep prison conditions healthily and all prisoners to get proper medical attention.

 Despite all the rumors and make believe stories on Engineer Hailu Shawel health, the Ethiopian government has brought top rated Doctor to treat him. On May 29, 2007(Tuesday) South African doctors performed eye surgery on him and the Engineer is doing well and is being treated at the Police Hospital currently. Source told us the operation went well and he is expected to recover fully.

Mean while those in jail and waiting for their next court date have been watching audio/video materials in anticipation of defending themselves. The judge has ordered they be given all audio/video materials and the prosecutor has obliged. According to sources the prisoners were watching the audio/video materials together. The next court date is this coming Friday (6/1/07).
