Update on Offshore Kinijit and Supporters

(Aigaforum, June 18, 2007)- The much talked reconfiguration of  Kinijit Diaspora, as we have told you earlier, has become a source of discomfort to Berhanu Mewa group. The letter from  Eng Hailu whom  Dr Bezabih called “our leader”  has sent shock waves to Berhan Mewa group and has forced Andargachew in search of  new alliance with “Hiberet” while Berhanu Mewa is still seeking to shore up his supporter in Washington DC.

The other day Dr Bezabih and Shaleqa Admasu went to the air with Mirchaw to chastise Berhanu Mewa for his open defiance against the spirit of the letter sent by leaders in Kaliti. Apparently Berhanu Mewa after realizing his slim majority in KIL slipping away by the addition of 11 new members is denying the letter came from Kaliti leaders. As readers can recall the hand writing though we are by no means expert in the field, seems written by the same person that wrote the letter that cause the schism in the first place. While Berhanu thinks this letter is not from the leaders in Kaliti, Dr Bezabih and Shaleqa Admasu, the two gentlemen who were sent by the jailed leaders to arbiter the two group have unequivocally acknowledged the letter came from Hailu Shawel (our leaders). Dr Bezabih was heard on the air telling Berhanu Mewa that it is not right for Berhanu to choose and pick which letter came from Kaliti according to his likings!

While Berhanu Mewa group is trying to solicit help from Hiberet(UEDF-Diaspora) the Shaleqa group is trying to garner civic leaders help. Sources tell us it is precisely for that reason Dr Taye and Ato Kifle were chosen to the new leadership. Berhanu Mewa has become so bitter he is blaming all his shortcomings on the Shaleqa group. Expect the failure of the schedule demonstration to be blamed on the Shaleqa group too!

The Shaleqa group, though is backtracking to retain old activist from resigning, the word on the street is some of the key activist like Girma? has already resigned. This will have a devastating effect in local day to day activity. This is so because the vocal (extreme) Diasporas are few in number and any lose is a huge loss.

Close sources tell us the reason Berhanu Mewa group explode and start to fight in the open against the Shaleqa group latest machination is because Engineer Hailu may not have consulted Dr Berhanu Nega in his latest appointments. However the same sources told us Dr Berhanu Nega has really become a shame to many Ethiopians. While many expected him to lead his organization to the promise land he has instead become a follower and many times went along with the crowd to please Hailu Shawel and the old guards. Ethiopian politics need mavericks and it is too bad Dr Berhanu failed to see the need for him to be assertive and save the movement. For all practical purpose Kinijit by any form or in any land is finished, said our source.
