Worthless oppositions
Ethiopian
opposition parties are prone to violence and unaccustomed to peaceful political
environment. They always carry two sharp knifes in each hand, one to use it
against each other like CUD, EPRP and other failed parties to eliminate their
own members and the other one is to be used against the governing party.
Compromise, tolerance, dialogue and rapprochement are not in the vocabulary of
the oppositions. Nation building, respect for oppressed nations and
nationalities and poverty eliminations and development endeavors are far away
from their agendas. Conspiracy, constant bickering, endless complaints
and useless arguments are the hallmark of the Ethiopian oppositions. Genuine,
patriotic, developmental oriented, democratic, civilized, well-planned and
principled opposition parties yet to emerge on the political landscape of Ethiopia.
Successive
dictatorial and repressive regimes did enormous damages to the economic,
political, democratic and social development of this nation. Equally, the
absence of viable, vibrant, credible, genuine and patriotic opposition parties
compounded the misery and the suffering of our people beyond comprehension. In
fact inexperienced, shortsighted, careless, greedy and hateful oppositions and
armed groups exposed and compromised the integrity and the unity of this nation
several times. The total preoccupations of the oppositions to acquire power by
any and violence means left this country with abject poverty and perpetual
civil strive. The oppositions remain the main factors of polarizations and
instability among our society. They utterly failed to understand and carryout
the roles and responsibilities the people of Ethiopia and this
country aspiring for. They undermined and outsold vital interests and the
sovereignty of Ethiopia.
The
despicable oppositions allied and continue to conspire on several occasions
with various external forces to overthrow the government and undermine the
sovereignty of our country. The incestuous lobbying and the call of the
oppositions to Western governments, legislatures and U.S. congress for
interventions and impositions of HR2003 is one of the most flagrant violations
and treasons committed against our country. The oppositions led by the
likes of Hailu Shawel, Berhanu Nega and Bertukana Medesk openly courted and
begged Americans to draft legislative bills to punish Ethiopia. Sponsors
of HR2003 include among others, the Eritrean regime, and EPPF, OLF, and ONLF,
despicable and rotten members of Diaspora and supporters of CUD. This grouping
also is the same one that constitutes AFD and organized under the auspicious
and sponsorship of EPLF. Most of the oppositions are adopted a bad habit of
sleeping and conspiring with number one Ethiopian enemy, EPLF. The offices of
AFD, ONLF, OLF, and EPPF all headquartered in Asmara and take their
marching orders from avid enemy of Ethiopia. The CUD
whose peaceful struggle is just a cover for the consumption of their Western
masters is allied with the same elements and set to see Ethiopia march
to hell.
It is
shame, saddening and hurtful to see our fellow citizens allied with Ethiopian
enemies just to score a political point. In many occasions members of he
oppositions including the one sitting in the parliament refused and objected to
any condemnations of the terrorist act carried out by the Eritrean regimes and
its mercenaries. The loss of many innocent lives by terrorist bombing in
different part of our country and the brutal massacre of Chinese oil workers
and Ethiopian civilians could not force the conscious of the oppositions to
condemn such barbarity. Only in Ethiopia that the
oppositions are refuses to support and stand with the national defense force of
the country. Regardless of the government policy, our army in Somalia must be
supported and encouraged for huge and worthy sacrifices they are making for our
closest kin's and national security interest. Unfortunately and sadly the
opposition's rigged and immature mentality could not allow extending their
support to our glorious army. Here the opposition's stand on national security
is not only a total failure but also pointing toward deliberate conspiracy and
sabotages. The rotten Diaspora, which finance and provide
ideological and political directions for most of the oppositions openly
champions the terrorist activities of Islamic courts, Alshabab
terrorists, ONLF and Eritrean regimes against the interests of both the people
of Ethiopia
and Somalia. Some of their websites cheerfully displayed and carried the
messages of Alshabab terrorists dragging the body of our soldiers. The crimes
and conspiracies of the called Ethiopian oppositions are endless. The stand and
the political positions of the oppositions over Eritrea and UNMEE are
very close to the Eritrean regime than that of Ethiopia. Actually
the wish and desire of most of the oppositions is to see the Eritrean regime
come to their rescue and crown them on the throne. The failure of the
oppositions to come on side of our country and people is a clear indication of
their uselessness and worthlessness in shaping and nurturing the democratic
credential of Ethiopia.
The
struggle for power grab by any means and at any cost is the goal and the
objectives of the oppositions. Now or never is the slogan and absolute zero sum
game is the hallmark of the oppositions. Ethiopian interest, democracy, human
rights issues are simply window dressing to cover up their dirty crimes.
The issue of reconciliation’s, development, democracy and good governance is
far away from their agendas. These hooligans and modern slaves see foreign
intervention and violence as a ticket to their power to rule and oppress our
people once again. Moreover, these people are shown to the whole world their
despotic and undemocratic nature by their inability to even tolerate and handle
each other with respect and democratically. How could such people speak of
democracy and human right issues? These people who preach doom and gloom and
strangled by enormous hate and vengeance and desire nothing than the complete
destruction of EPRDF. For them EPRDF is an align entity which must be destroyed
at any cost regardless of ramifications on the unity and stability of the
country. They rejected to recognize EPRDF as legitimate force and
their refusal to work with common and vial national issues denied the people of
Ethiopia
critical services and developments. Moreover, the worthless
opposition's ugly conspiracy and deceit as a political tool denied the people
of Ethiopia
peace and stability. Most of the oppositions are set to perpetuate poverty,
violence and hate as political strategy. As far as hate is the driving force
for opposing the present government the political space continue to shrink and
disappear for these kinds of destructive forces. By their choice and design the
oppositions are shrinking and closing their constitutional and natural
political space on themselves.
By
rejecting the legitimize and the rightful place of EPRDF and labeling it as
enemy and anti Ethiopia, the oppositions are effectively
closing and shutting down all venues for peaceful power transfer and political
process. Election is one of the means where legitimate, democratic and
peaceful political parties seek a mandate to govern from the public. The base
of any election is the existence of some common goals, trust and respect for
the rule of law among the contending parties. In our case most of the
oppositions have no common goals, mistrust each other and hate the governing
party. They also reject and never recognized the constitutions of the country.
Most of them are joined the parliament for political expediency rather than
helping our people to overcome poverty and build democratic society. In
nutshell, they are spoilers and waiting for opportune moment to undermine the
system. Instead of conducting themselves as loyal and credible oppositions,
they employ dirty tactics of ridiculing, insulating and embarrassing the
government and member of the parliament.
Inflammatory
rhetoric, crises escalations, polarizing the society and calls for foreign interventions
and seeking cheap propaganda from defunct western media and fake human rights
grouping is what they do during the elections. The oppositions know very well
that they are disorganized, dejected by people and never have committed to do
their homework among the people. They do not believe in the elections and
therefore go for the kill and defaming the whole process. Boycott is a
political statement and instrument to deny legitimize and function of the
election. When some of the parties decided to boycott the election at the last
minute, they trying their best to derail and sabotage the democratic and
political process of the country. They trying to show their external backers
that the election is fake and this government has no mandate from the people.
The oppositions are just looking for any kind of opportunity to escalate the
crisis, derail the development and democratic process and create sensational
and cheap propaganda for the consummation of outside world. The boycott of the
election by some oppositions designed to cover their weakness and undermine the
over all democratic and political process of the country.
In
this respect, the oppositions are proven beyond doubt they are useless and
worthless entities and they outlived their purpose and can be declared as spent
and expired force. The people of Ethiopia deserve better and have no desire for
these kinds of divisive and useless parties. Most of the present political
parties did nothing and contributed zero to the betterment of the peoples of Ethiopia.
The people of Ethiopia deserve and need better genuine,
patriotic, developmental oriented, democratic, civilized, well-planned and
principled opposition parties. All of us and the government of Ethiopia have a
duty and responsibility to provide good governance and political space for
peaceful and democratic loyal opposition parties. We must move on forward to
build democratic country and remove poverty on the back of our people. Poverty
becomes our huge liability and a source of vulnerability and means of a weapon
for our enemies. Thus, we need to focus on development and work hard in
unions to elevate our people high and to the bright future.
