Government concerned about US decision to deport Ethiopians.
(Eftin 3/31/06)
Sources close to the Ethiopian Government have said that the Government of Ethiopia is concerned by the recent decision of the US Immigration Authority to deport over fifty Ethiopians who have reportedly lived in the US illegally for many years.
It is reported that the Ethiopians who are now under the custody of the immigration Authority will be deported in the coming few days. The reasons given for their removal from the United States are over staying in the US illegally, violation of laws and regulations related to controlled substance, minor misdemeanors and other felony offenses.
The Ethiopian Government has reportedly expressed its concerns that the deportation would cause hardship to the deportees and their families residing in the US; and also will bring an extremely unusual hardship to the deportees to easily adjust themselves in Ethiopia after so many years of absence from their country.
