Irreconcilable Difference and a Moment of truth for AFD

Had the CUD not betrayed democracy and had it joined the parliament fom the getgo, EPRP and its rusty politics of the 70’s would have been thrown to the dust bin of history. Diaspora CUD has once again managed to put itself in an odd alliance and see its only motto of the 2005 election abused by the UEDF Diaspora. Election takes creating citizen's awareness, mass organization, making sure they know the issue, and the candidates etc . Diaspora UEDF, who was preaching day and night the impossibility of holding an election under EPRDF and the Constitution, now comes to reap the fruits of the election to its twisted end. Diaspora UEDF knows no democracy, democratic election or democratic process, only mechanisms of paralyzing a government to its eventual downfall. The reason Diaspora UEDF has come to be more advocate of the “2005 August victory” than the CUD, an election it did not participate to begin with, is because it can effectively sideline the OLF. With “2005 August victory” comes the removal of the Constitution, the replacement of federal structure by unitary form of government. The OLF has no interest about “August victory” to speak of since “August victory” means defeat of the policy it is pursuing by implication. Instead, the OLF, who has managed to cut the CUD to size as representative of the Amhara, has made the Ethiopian constitution as the bases to move forward because the Constitution guarantees the OLF a federal structure and the right of nations and nationalities. The true believers of the CUD, those who believe CUD to be multiethnic, flag waving coalition(disciples blind to AEUP’s “Ab”- as in the father- role in CUD), could not make sense of the fact that their party has allied itself with secessionist groups. The Diaspora leaders of the CUD are acting more like a civic organization than astute political leaders, and the OLF is becoming too slick for the test of CUD supporters. CUD’s self appointed leaders can not go on in denial of the hole they have dug themselves into and the OLF can not hold patronizing attitude for long. For now, Master anarchist UEDF Diaspora, while having no discernible support inside the country to speak of, is given a life line to play the rusty tune of “kewte Ken” and the mirage politics of transitional govenment.
