Shabia would do anything to destabilize Ethiopia

It is clear to friends and foes alike that Shabia would do anything to destabilize Ethiopia. It has transferred hundreds, probably thousands of soldiers to fight with the terrorist led UIC in Somalia. It is also arming the so called ONLF and OLF.

These days Eritreans in diaspora are told that there will be something new this year which would make every Eritrean happy & proud and appreciate the leadership for its patience and wisdom. My friend who participated in one of the discussion fora organized by Shabia’s prominent figure by the name Meki told me that the official implied that Ethiopia would be brought to its knees under pressure from the East by UIC, OLF and ONLF fighters and from the North by the Shabiya army that has recently come to “harvest crops” with 14 tanks in the buffer zone. In addition to military threats, Shabiya is also stirring ethnic conflict in Ethiopia via different propaganda outlets with the hope of creating Rwanda type genocide. In Shabiya’s calculation, when the conflict erupts between various ethnic groups, especially between the major ones, there won’t be an end to the bloodshed and Ethiopia or parts of Ethiopia would be concurred by Shabia in the absence of authority and that the “Ethiopian Empire” would be destroyed once and for all. In its drive to “destroy” Ethiopia, the first target would be Tigry because it remains enemy #1.

For reasons I don’t understand, Issayas hates Tigray. As an Ethiopian, I don’t hate Tigrians because they are my people. I don’t agree with the policies of the TPLF but I don’t hate them either. Why should I hate them? Hate doesn’t bring change. The solution is that we have to recognize that TPLF is a political force in Ethiopia and it has to be criticized for its failings and credited for its achievements. TPLF has failed in the areas of good governance and democracy. It should recognize that it is beneficial for Ethiopians to create a political atmosphere where power is transferred not by violence but by democratic means. Such smooth transfer of power would set the stage for unity, unprecedented economic development and peace. Such a development would frustrate the ambitions of our enemies to attack us as people who are united emerge victorious even in adverse situations. We have great leaders both in the government and the opposition and they have to come up with workable formula to extricate the country from political tension, lack of peace and vulnerability to attack. The solution greatly lies in the hands of the government, particularly the Prime Minister. I appreciate the steps taken under his leadership to democratize the country and initiate projects that have national significance such as universities, hydro power plants, extensive road networks, etc. However, as we approach the Ethiopian millennium, it is essential to create national consensus by

·                     Releasing opposition leaders who are suffering in prison.

·                     Emphasizing on our unity rather than over blowing our differences

·                     Setting goals of great national significance (particularly economic) to be accomplished for the Millennium by each government Ministry, Agency, Local Administration (Woreda, Kebele) and even NGOs & PVOs.

By taking such spectacular measures in political, economic and other areas, lets us show Shabiya who wish us destruction that Ethiopia has high-minded & visionary leaders bent on making history by democratizing and developing the country that Africa has not witnessed.
