Enough is Enough__________________________________
MA, Toronto The blunder of the Eritrean Government is not only it has committed an aggression without any legal justification but it has all the more stood for the destabilization of Ethiopia since 1988. The Eritrean regimes blind adventures need to be check mated and nipped in the bud. Had their ambition had been tamed; they would not have primarily jumped on to aggression. The Eritrean government has been an ardent supporter of terrorism since its inception. Eritrea supported the Libyan position on the Lockerbie issue (terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 109 which crushed in Lockerbie, Scotland in return for financial support from Gadhafi.) In the past 15 years of its existence, the infant state of Eritrea has exhibited a high degree of aggressiveness. This is a natural outcome of militaristic nationalism exhibited by Eritrean Nationalism. The invasion of Ethiopia in 1998 provided a short term ‘testosterone boost’ to the Isayas. This short term hallucination was nipped in the bud when the Eritrean army was routed from Ethiopian territories in a very short time. Despite the humiliating defeat Eritrea has not stopped in its effort to destabilize Ethiopia. The Eritrean government with close collaboration of a ring of Eritrean professionals and foreign “guerrilla Groupie” scholars has been pouring their venom against Ethiopia in every front. The arming of the Islamists in Somalia, the training of OLF and other disgruntled self centered and self serving Ethiopian opposition groups, the sponsoring of terrorist activities in Addis and Dire Dawa and good examples of the motives and orientations of this government. Eritrea is trying as it did in May 1999 to destabilize Ethiopia and draw attention away from fight against poverty and underdevelopment by sending Ethiopian rebels and Islamists under the guidance of Eritrean Army to the east of the country from Somalia. It has also sent huge quantities of arms, for use by the rebels and Somali factions against Ethiopia. Isayas has denied the charges but the arrival of a plane load with weapons and over 500 Eritrean soldiers was confirmed by western diplomats in Nairobi. While Eritrea is working 24/7 to destabilize Ethiopia, the Ethiopian government seems to be waiting with closed arms for a major crisis to happen. I think enough is Enough and the government needs to act quickly and put an end to this madness. There will be no development nor will poverty be eradicated as long as there are anti-peace elements and terrorist regimes like Eritrea.
