Ethiopians residing in and around Washington D.C celebrated Nations and Nationalities day

Ethiopians residing in and around Washington D.C celebrated Nations and Nationalities day in the grounds of the Ethiopian Embassy on Sunday December 9,2007.More than 250 Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia participated on the occasion. Honorable Ato Asmelash Wolde selassie,Chairperson of the Legal and Administration standing committee in the House of Representatives was guest of honor of the occasion.

.Ato Asmelash said on the occasion that this day is the result of the blood and tears of thousands of martyrs and reminded the guests attending the event that the course of history Ethiopia has embarked upon is irreversible.

Two research papers on the significance of the Nations and Nationalities day and on the HR 2003 were presented by Ethiopian intellectuals and were discussed thoroughly. At the end of the event the participants of the occasion passed a resolution condemning the HR 2003 draft bill and vowed to fight it to the final end
