Grave Wounds

A month ago, in a prequel to this piece, titled "Grave Error", the whole kit and caboodle, otherwise known as the "Reformed" Dergue or CUD, were forewarned of the severe consequences of their absurd infamy and futile hate propaganda they have always vented in the Amharic airwaves of the diaspora. Sure enough, from the societal and cultural ruins of this nation and from among its perturbed children under the spell of darkness and confusion, came two Ethiopian gentlemen who, so eloquently and without reservation, portrayed the truth and enlightened the most disoriented and manipulated community of Ethiopians in the diaspora.

From the ashes of the victims of the infamous "Red Terror" regime, from the mass graves and the war zones we treasured from the military junta and, above all, from among the media outlets of the diaspora that are heavily dominated by criminals, who are wanted for such high crimes as genocide and ethnic cleansing, came voices–the most revered voices of two well-versed gentlemen, Ato Aklilu Abraha and Ato Mulugeta Aserate Kassa. Their voices bear and defend the Truth. The emergence of this Truth to the criminal gang, however, is the silver cross to Count Dracula, where a simple exposure to the cross inflicts grave wounds.

Not since Hurricane Katrina of New Orleans have we seen the foundations of all idle fantasies so shaken that the Ethiopian Mafiosi have agreed to pay any amount of money to buy the silence and cooperation of select individuals. Unfortunately for the small time crooks, these two mavericks and many other unsung heroes did not fall for this lucrative deal and would not budge from telling it like it is. The human race is obliged to these heroic voices.

The Game Plan, deliberated in Asmara by some decadent criminals and the dismal Eritrean leader, is but one of the most treasonous acts that came to light in the last few months. The bad news is that the voices, which have just started to unveil this grotesque picture of this house of burlesque, are voices that will not go away until justice is served. By far, this was the deadliest blow to the Ethio-eritrean Drug Cartel, whose credentials include but are not limited to genocide, torture, money laundering, human trafficking, and, of course, treason–here, defined as conspiring with a foreign enemy against the motherland. Our sincere thanks must be extended to these bold and righteous voices, because they are calls for justice.

In this court of justice however, the morphemes for the word "absolution" are controversial, which might be the cause for the discomfort of the already haunted and anguished characters, the defendants. The very ground they stood on is shaken violently by the very thunderous truth that split the skies and brought forth their untidy souls. And their future appears bleaker by each hour of every day. "Father Time" will keep ticking the "heavens" out off their what-ever-is-left-of sewer-sucking lives. Think of them as wounded "Gestapo" members on the run.

As the very voices of their victims start cracking the very earth that is hiding them and escalate to an infinite crescendo and dissonance, as the hosts of nations and their generous and law-abiding citizens that granted them refuge, become aware of the very blood on their hands, as these and several unpleasant eventualities materialize, we are bound to witness a dramatic metamorphosis of these slimy slugs into beautiful butterflies. What a cunning strategy! But, only if they pull it off.

I would urge the Ethiopian elite to simply observe and document the transformation of these slugs, because without a doubt, such a document will outdate and outsmart the achievements of generations of make-up artists and plastic sergeants of Hollywood. Such a document is bound to become an overnight hit. Unfortunately for the screen writer though, the brief life of these insects, inflicted with ultimately fatal grave wounds, is not a pleasant territory.
