Shaibya tries another provocation against Ethiopia: Shaibya mercenaries tried to hijack tourist in Afar region, Ethiopia.

Aigaforum 02/20/08:- According to a reliable source some 28 European mostly French tourist were attacked by Shaibya (Eritrean regime) mercenaries in the Afar region of Ethiopia. The incident happened around Mohammed Ela in the Dalul area around 11am (Ethiopian time) today.

The tourist were unharmed and  are now in safe place Security police from the Afar regional state who were accompanying the tourist thwarted the attempted attack . The tourists were walking on foot away from their camp at Mohammed Ela and Dalul. All tourists were seen escorted and attended by Ethiopia Defense forces station in the area to their camps at Mohammed Ela. Sources told us one police officer was slightly wounded but all of the tourists were unharmed.There was minor damages on some tourist cars with bullet holes also

As you recalled the Shaibya regime has successfully raided tourist destination in this area before. The last time the regime masterminded the abduction of some British tourist along with their Ethiopian guides.

The Afar region has become a hot destination to tourist. Lucy the oldest and earliest human being of record was found in this region and with its active volcano at Erta Ale and the many archeological interesting sites Afar has become magnet to tourist.
