Washington DC Ethiopians and Friends of Ethiopia celebrated the dawn of Ethiopian third Millennium.

A huge gathering of Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia celebrated the dawn of the third Ethiopian millennium at the Washington Monument in Washington DC. The organizers were delighted by the huge turn out estimated by police to be close to 40 thousands.

 

The event started at 5pm and lasted until 12am and was attended by Congressman Mike Honda, Civil right leader and black Caucus founder Walter Fountroy, Ambassador Samuel Assefa, Dr Mulu Kestela from World Bank and other dignitaries including South Africa Ambassador to the USA. The festive and well-organized celebration was very successful according to Ato Mulugtea Tsegaye

 

Civil rights leader Mr. Walter Fountroy made a heart warming speech on Ethiopia and event goers were entertained by west African and Caribbean singers singing in praise of Ethiopia.

 

The organizers were very happy and those that attended the event were delighted to be part of this momentous event.The event was organized by Addis Zemen LLC, Millennium Organizing group and Ethiopian African Millennium group.
