Girma Asmerom, OLF and CUD North America

Diaspora Update-Continued (5-27-06)

If you watched the latest big screen movie the “The Da Vinci Code” then you have a hint of what we are going to ask you. Do you think the picture in the Last Supper is revealing the whole truth?  Is John (the one in the middle leaning to the right) really the Apostle John or is it Mary Magdalene?  Speaking of the last supper here is a story that we would like to impart.   Donald Yamamoto, Solomon Bekele, Girma Asmerom and the OLF chairman (we failed his name) had a supper/dinner somewhere in the Washington DC area. The question that comes to mind is why Girma Asmerom?  Was it really him Girma the Eritrean Shaebia or was it his phantom?

Our take is that the subject matter of discussion must have been Ethiopia.  Our source says that this may have been the work of the lobbyist hired by Kinijit and Eritrea. Now the question is why Girma Asemrom? Why was Girma Asmerom a guest in this dinner? You might ask is Girma having a second thought of his birth country Ethiopia? Or could the truth of the matter be that Girma the Eritrean Ambassador is trying to bring Eritrea in to a discussion on Ethiopia in order to show it’s solidarity to the OLF? Remember the OLF and Eritrean Government have made a solemn agreement not to betray each other.

In deciphering the ultimate meaning of the meeting, it is believed that Ato Solomon Bekele of Kinijit and Girma Asmerom of Shaebia may have been briefing Donald Yamamoto about the impending alliance, which we now have come to know by the name of AFD. In fact, the same source tells us that when the Ethiopian government officials were briefed about this secret meeting, they could not but help laugh. Our sources say the officials were intrigued by Girma’s presence in the meeting and asked what the implication would be!  Lo and behold it turned out to be the preliminary master plan to the formation of the alliance, AFD.

 It is obvious the Alliance was half cooked in Washington DC and the other half in Asmera. Although CUD NA is said to be supporting this alliance we should expect some sort of split or disagreement in the following weeks.

Andargachew Tisge and Berhanu Mewa including one other officer we are told are having second thoughts on the merits of joining the Alliance.  Sources say Andargachew Tsige and Solomon Bekele, who were present in the alliance meeting, fled inconspicuously to avoid from having their picture taken. We have also learned that Berhanu Mewa is not at all happy by the turn of events. CUD NA, the self appointed guardian of “Ethiopian nationalism” could not even insert the name Ethiopia to the Alliance’s name (AFD). Observers say this was done to please mainly the ONLF and OLF who are adamant about the mosaic unity of Ethiopia in general. At the same time sources tell us CUD and OLF officials met under Secretary Jandai Frazer and they were told to join the peaceful process.

Mean while…

President Bush’s daughter toured northern Ethiopia and saw first hand how farmers are changing their lifestyle. She observed the USAID and other sponsored projects in Tigray and elsewhere in Ethiopia. It is to be recalled the USAID, Ireland and the European Union have been active supporters of life altering projects in Ethiopia since the coming of EPRDF. The Europeans, Britain and the World Bank have decided to continue the engagement by approving over a billion in aid and loan. The Ethiopian government, unlike prior corrupt governments, is making it easier for donors to continue funding projects. The unblemished record of the EPRDF government in transparency and accountability won the World Bank to release the current installment.
