TPLF Birthday celebrated in Boston.

 

The Tigray community in Boston and surrounding areas celebrated the 33rd birthday the Tigray people's Liberation Front (TPLF) and the armed uprising of the people of Tigray against national oppression on March 1, 2008, at 156 High Land Ave. in Somerville. This event was organized by Union of Tigrayans in North America (UTNA) chapter Boston.

 

The event was kicked off by a moment of silence to commemorate the martyrs who gave their lives for the cause of the people with great courage and bravery.

 

On the occasion, a statement from UTNA underlining the significant of the struggle was read. The statement also called for the people to actively participate in the effort to wipe out poverty and to bring lasting good governance in our country with a new sprit of the Millennium

 

Meanwhile a Certificate of Award from the Tigrai Disable Veterans' Association (TDVA) was given to the Boston Tigrai women's association and to the TDVA organizing committee, for their role in the fund rising event on December 2007 for the Veterans Association by Honorable Werede Gessesse, Member of the House of Representative, who was present at the event.  Honorable Werede appreciated the community for their support to TDVA and urged them to continue to support our Veterans.

 

The event was accompanied by various Tigrigna songs that exhibit the bravery, commitment and sacrifice of the Tigrean sons and daughters.
