To those who responded to our call for comment, we thank you very much. We are indebted to your heart warming appreciation and well meaning advices. The very reason Aiga forum continues to exist is because of people like you. People like you keep all of us volunteers committed. Your encouragement fuels our determination. Our inspiration to do something good regardless of the challenges emanates from the continued support we get from readers like you. All of us volunteers behind Aiga forum have one and only one mission: to make constructive contribution to the betterment of the lives of fellow citizens back home. This, we are glad to tell you, the overwhelming majority of you have told us in no uncertain terms we are doing superbly!
Many of you have told us to keep doing what we are doing. Some of you have told us to do more and some of you have told us to expand our coverage of news and commentary. It is true since the May 2005 election in Ethiopia most commentaries and news posted on Aiga forum and elsewhere for that matter has been heavily skewed one way or the other in support of the key players.
True to form, Aiga forum did take a stand that the organization CUD, whom we initially thought could become a loyal opposition, was becoming an obstacle to democracy and the effort to build democratic institutions in Ethiopia. Our stand was not hidden. We made our readers aware where we stand in the struggle and in the process made an effort to highlight the shortcomings of CUD. Given the vocal Diaspora vindictive campaign to smear EPRDF and every one else who stood against their grand scheme of the "color" revolution, Aiga forum news and commentary coverage were skewed. This was done to level the playing field in the Diaspora.
It ought not to be a secret to all of you many of the websites who were churning day in day out all kind of innuendos were marginalizing the May 2005 election. It also ought not to be a secret to all of you these same websites were clearly pushing the opposition to bypass the constitutional order in the country. Aiga forum realizing this chose to call a spade a spade and decide to expose lies. Reading some of your comments, we realize our zeal to see good things happening in our mother country, we may have neglected posting the other side of the story. This may not have been necessarily the best option. We thank to those of you who told us to rectify such deficiency.
Although many seem not to have a problem with the snippet comments we attached to some news, some of you have problems with it. You have suggested either we post a commentary or opinion on the subject matter or leave the news alone. We promise to you our esteemed readers we will heed and do what is right from here on.
And to those who could not see the good side of us and there were few of you who in point blank told us of your wishes that we never exist at all, well we respect your views but we are here to stay. We hope to convince you otherwise down the road.
All in all we are very pleased by the response we got. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to serve you and serve our mother country Ethiopia.
Thank you All
Aigafroum Volunteers.
