Ye'hede ena Ye'deheye hulun Aye (One who travels and one who become poor will see everything) is one among the many word of wisdom our ancestors have endowed us with. I heard this proverb from one of the gifted Ethiopians at Civility room. And how fitting it is for me to quote it here to describe the current vocal Diaspora predicament. The vocal Diaspora knows no shame! I tell you friends and readers, how on earth can any one take these people as genuinely interested in the well being of Ethiopia? In one hand they tell us they won election 2005 because they were organized and formidable and ready to take power. On the other hand as recent as yesterday they are asking for a dialogue to form a consensus among the myriad of oppositions. How do you go from being a well-founded opposition that was ready to take power to becoming a joke of the town?

The vocal Diaspora may think their darling Kinijit has won election 2005, but the truth be told what ever vote kinijt garnered it was purely a vote of no confidence on EPRDF. And truth be told the vote of no confidence primarily came form the urbanites and urbanites make no more that 10% of the population. The reason kinijit and the much other opposition have failed miserably since election 2005 because they hold their existence on the shortcomings of EPRDF. They have no principle except that of hate and envy. They envy the success of EPRDF thus went on a vengeance to discredit election 2005 by causing death and destruction. They think they have succeeded in doing that when they proudly proclaimed they have caught red handed PM Meles Zenawi after the death of civilians. They said loudly "mano asnekanew"!

Today Ethiopia is moving along and the much-hyped European pressure or British discomfort with the government of PM Meles Zenawi is a thing of the past. The Europeans have realized Ethiopia or its government was not for sale to be bought for few million dollars. Europe has decided to engage the government in good faith. The EPRDF government did not wait for Europe to come and tell it to sit with the opposition to make headway in the democratization process either. While Europe was holding its 300 million aid package, EPRDF forged ahead on its own terms to make a significant headway with the democratization process with the support of the loyal oppositions. The economy to the surprise of the Europeans also grew and thanks to other countries the much-needed grants and loans never stopped coming. Realizing their futile attempt to influence the EPRDF government the Europeans are back in full force.

For a sane person, having seen their make believe story of a dooms day hovering on Ethiopia failed, the right thing to do for the vocal opposition would have been to change course and save their embarrassment. Instead they have reset their agenda and it is all over again. In the beginning it was Paris I conference and then Paris II and then Hibret and then kinijit and then AFD and today they are calling for a fresh start. I tell you friends and readers, these people are a bunch of idiots. In away it is good EPRDF has idiots as its vocal opponent, otherwise the destruction could have been huge and unending unlike the short lived one.

To the vocal Diaspora, what on earth do you think created the many opposition camps if it is not the dislike these groups have to each other! How long do you want to swim in a circle hoping to build a nation on hate politics and succeed to maintain law and order! Does any of you think what ever is left of EPRP can sit with any one, really? And the OLF with AAUP (cud-na)! How many years do you want to remain ignorant!

One thing going well these days is the fad of blogging is over. Many of the bloggers have gone quiet. For all practical reason there is only one poor souls trying to extend his cyber life on the fortunes of the Kaliti prisoners. The blogger seems to run out of topic and have now resorted to try it as fortuneteller. I am glad I am not a family member of the imprisoned leaders of CUD; otherwise I would be wallowing by the false prophecy of this blogger about the eminent release of the accused leaders. Some times I wonder if the court is reading the bloggers and deciding when to give the verdict. I know they are not but you know...

What is wrong with the “civilized” countries of the west? During the first weeks of the brilliantly executed war against the extreme Islamic Courts and their foreign mercenaries supporters many were killed and apprehended. Some escaped and were later haunted and caught at the Kenyan border. Although Ethiopia from day one has told the world that the Islamic Courts was hijacked by Al-Qaeda elements and foreign mercenaries thus cannot be counted as a reliable peace partners in Somalia many western countries turn a deaf ear. In fact some of them went out of their way to deny some of their citizens were to be blamed. Today the same countries are quietly collecting their hired mercenaries from jails in Ethiopia and Kenya with the hope of learning more about the terrorist inner workings. However instead of saying thank you and sorry to Ethiopia, some have the audacity to demand the release of their hired mercenaries and terrorist. What is wrong with these countries? Do they think these people were on honeymoon in war torn Somalia or what? Time indeed tells it all!
